Why you must review the way you write articles to get a residual income.

It used to be that you could just wack up an article with your keywords and google would love you. If you want a residual income you will have to work a bit harder than that nowadays.

How you used to get a Residual Income with SEO

As I'm sure you know, a major part of promoting websites is writing articles. For years, articles that you wanted to be found on search engines were written to comply with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) rules.

So you would choose a keyword or phrase that people would search for, then you write your article with that keyword or phrase appearing about 3-4% of the time. If you did this the correct way the search engine would probably find your article and list it favorably when someone searched for your given term.

But a while ago, this all changed.

What Has LSI Got to do With Residual Income?

A short while ago Google and other search engines decided to improve their methods and shift away from SEO and toward what is lovingly calls LSI. LSI of course stands for Latent Semantic Indexing.

If you are serious about getting a Residual Income then you have to be aware of this new way search engines are trying to rank findings. What happens is that LSI takes into account not only your keyword or phrase but also other words and phrases that are in the article that are similar to your search phrase.

SEO versus LSI and how it affects Residual Income

Lets look at an example. You have the keyword phrase "buy trousers" with Search Engine Optimization you should write those two words about 15 times in a 500 word article (that's 3%). However, with LSI you want to write "buy trousers" a few times and then you should also include other phrases like "buy clothes", "purchase trousers", "buy short trousers", and "get trousers". That way, according to the new rules, your article will have more value and be ranked higher in the search results. This actually makes sense and the old method of SEO is now seen to be trying to capture the higher ranking by dubious means and therefore will now be listed much lower in the results.

Should you now be looking at LSI for a Residual Income

Well, there is certainly a shift towards LSI and so you should be writing your articles based around LSI rather than SEO. But to be on the safe side as it is still new, it is probably best to do a something between the two to achieve your residual Income. In other words, make sure you have your actual phrase appearing a few times but also make sure you use other phrases.

Is that all you have to worry about to get a Residual Income?

One other major thing to bear in mind when you are writing your article is that getting your high ranking is only half the battle. You must still get that person to click on your article, read it, and then click on your link to your site. If your article is rubbish (as most SEO articles are) then your visitors are just not going to click on your links.

So while you should always make sure that you use your keywords and similar words and phrases, it should always be your main aim to write a good article about your chosen subject.

It's quite obvious really. Lets say you have writen a bad article that ranks well really well because you have done a great job with SEO and LSI. Say 4000 people look at your article but because it is rubbish only 4 people actually click through or stay on your site.

You also have this other article that it really interesting and informative, it is not as well ranked and you only get 40 people looking at it. But it is so good that 10 of those people click through or stay on your site.

So now you know what to do to get a Residual Income

Let's recap. Your first article gots lots of visitors but the result were not as good as they were with the good article.

So remember why you are writing articles, it's clicks not visits. Just think if you get it right you can have massive results and a massive Residual Income. So keep that in mind whenever you are writing your articles.

Remember the search engines don't know how good your content is but your readers will. Don't scare them off.

I thought it was all about volume

In some ways it is, if you get enough sites up there and you are good at churning out well optimized rubbish then yes you will get sales. But your visitors have minds so you will only get one sale which is not good for a Residual Income. People do business with people they think have something to offer, so offer it.

So, should you write according to SEO or LSI. Google and other search engines are showing that LSI is the chosen method. But the real question is whether your article is good enough to actually get people to click on your links and buy of you. Because that's when your article was worth putting on the internet. Then your article will bring you visitors will which in turn make you money.
