Mom may have an advantage!
There are a lot of social networking groups out there; Twitter, Facebook, Stumbleupon, Digg and others. If you happen to be a Mom, or a Grandma (like I am) then there are a growing number of networking resources for you to explore.
Mother's everywhere are pulling together to try to help each other out, not only in Mothering, but in Business. If your business happens to be promoting your writing, well, you qualify as well! More and more sites are becoming available for this particular group. One that just "Officially Opened" on August First but already had a wealth of news and blogs on there!
Whether you are a working Mom, or a SAHM, these social networking sites are for you. Grandmas too, and I even have one or two JUST for the Grandma! So grab a pen, or open another browser window and take a look at all of the opportunities for you!

Cafe Mom
A free social network for Moms
Cafe Mom is an ever growing social network with many possibilities to get your name and your work seen. It is Perfect for Stay at Home Mom's who work at home, or want to. It is a good networking site for any Mom, including writers. For instance, on my page, I have my Squidoo RSS, My Hubpages, I have my blogs listed, plus I write little "journal entries" when I write a particularly good Lens. My Cafe Mom traffic is steadily increasing on Squidoo. Besides that, there are some good people at Cafe Mom, be sure to check it out.

Moms United in Business
Moms and Business Women Networking together
Geared toward both Moms and Business Women. There are many possibilities here, and without a lot of the junk (MLM's etc.) You can even submit articles to be published. When they are published, they get placed on the site, and emailed to everyone who gets their newsletter. One of the more impressive sites.They also have contests, and loads of resources. Very organized and well put together site, and network! This site is a must see! Free to join, free to network! A Great free business posting page!

Twitter-moms sprang from the popularity of twitter. Because Moms provide strong support and networking, twitter Mom's has groups such as "Moms that write" and "Homeschooling Moms" and many more. There is even a "Green Mamas" group! You are able to make blog posts and they are always adding contests and other fun things to do on the site.Twitter-Moms

Let other Moms know what you are about
Whether you have a blog, a website, or a new business, you have to do everything you can to promote and spark interest. This includes getting business cards, having t-shirts made, whatever you can think of. This does not have to be expensive. I've done the "Single Mom" starting a business routine and you don't have to go broke promoting your name or product!

Momdot
Very new, very active online network community
Momdot at first glance is a cutsey, girly site that makes you want to dig out your curlers and fingernail polish and have a slumber party. Checking into it a bit further, I found it a helpful networking source. It is still new, but you can make a blog there, and you can also list your existing blog on their site. Their Motto is "where blogging Moms go," Opportunity to do a lot of social networking here.There is a lot of potential for this site, so get in now, and you'll be well established by the time it's finished "settling."

For the Grandmas (and Grandpas)
another social networking site
Grandparents dot com is another newer site that is still testing the waters, so to speak. I have found it very easy to start building my networking site there though. There are groups and discussions for you to join, or start. I noticed there are quite few who list "writing" as an interest. Target your group, invite friends, you know the drill! Not quite a Web 2.0, but a networking site none-the-less.Hopefully they will be adding more opportunities, but for now, grab what you can. An opportunity is an opportunity.
