Showing children how to be respectful in the classroom

We would all love to live in an ideal world where every student was well behaved, obeyed the rules, and respected each other. Unfortunately, the ideal world doesn't seem to exist, at least not without learning about those things prior to going to class. Respectful Rabbit, one of nine Characters from Characters of Character, received a letter from one young student who had a question about respect in the classroom. Take a few moments to view what this student asked, Joni's response, meet Respectful Rabbit, and learn a few ways that you can show respect in the classroom.

Respectful Rabbit is only one of nine Characters our organization created to help children better relate to and internalize positive character traits.

Sadly, mannerliness seems to be being lost along the way. Thank you for bringing it back. Self respect seems to be an important element in respecting others and being respectful in the classroom and any where a child goes.

Common everyday manners should be taught at home as an ongoing process starting before a child is school age and on going until the child is grown. Unfortunately, too many parents do not seem to understand that it is their JOB and not the job of the teacher to teach respect as an every day life skill. Making simple videos for the children & the parents is a start towards this educational process. I am leaving a *Squid Angel Blessing* for a well done lens and I've added your link to My Squid Angel Wings to be featured in the "Parenting & Kids ยป Children" neighborhood.

We are currently teaching our little girl about manners. I believe it's important to start them young understanding how to treat people. It's a lesson that will benefit them their whole lives.
