Oil paintings, watercolors & acrylics

Robert E. Stinson is in his 80s, and he's painted most of his life. He's now past doing exhibits because the last one, a sixty year retrospective, took too much out of him.

Yes, he's my Dad, but here's what another northwest Ohio painter said about his work, "His work is holy. And I don't think he knows it. I've never seen any other work like his that evokes what his does."

And when I worked for New York City Ballet and had a painting of Blenheim Palace in my office, world renowned ballerina Patricia McBride stopped by. After gazing at the painting for quite awhile, she said, "I think we should put all his work in the Green Room [of the New York State Theater] and have an exhibit." I never forgot that one.

Though his local--Bowling Green, Ohio paintings--were all purchased long ago, he has many paintings of scenes around the world in his residence today. They are available for purchase.

Emotionally-charged statements in oils, watercolors and acrylics

A painting of Picadilly Square in London once was bought by The Burger King Franchise

"I often digest my feelings about the places I have been - sometimes for years - to discover what I have to say about them emotionally. So I guess you could say that part of a painting is based on memory - reminiscence - and the emotional longing, even melancholy that might come with no longer being there."
--Robert E. Stinson

""We should put all his paintings in the Green Room (NY State Theater) and have an exhibit.""

WORK THAT EVOKES

An original with every piece

"Each work represents for me a unique concept and effort. My pictures range from near Expressionist color and value to Cubist faceting and an occasional pure abstract."
--Robert E. Stinson

LANDSCAPES WITH MOOD

"I try to give a pleasing, but strongly stated mood to my pieces, which sometimes incorporate the human figure. For the bulk of my career, I have preferred landscape as a source of most motifs."
--Robert E. Stinson

If you are an art student or were one, perhaps you used the book that's been used in colleges across the country.

I remember how the co-authors travelled the country gathering slides of art, looking at art, discussing which artists would go in, and making sure all aspects of art were included.

I think this is a great Lens. The art photos are clear and colorful and the news about the artist is intriguing. The ony little problem, if it is one, is that it's hard to see right off where to contact someone about viewing more of this artist's work and inquire about purchasing some.
