A full night's sleep used to be a lot easier to achieve, back in the 'good old days' before television, electric lights, constant noise and distraction. When the sun went down, so did we. When the sun came up, we rose and got on with our day.
Wandering around in the dark was reserved for night watchmen, thieves, owls, wolves and other night-dwelling entities.
Back in those days, we expended a tremendous amount of physical energy on just plain existing. Without sleep, we could not keep up the pace of farming, hunting, planting, survival. Sleep was one of the main recharge systems, and we got a lot more of it then than we do now.
As a result of our improved state of being and technology, we civilized electricity-wielding humans in most settled environments tend to bear a heavy sleep debt. When we should be stretching out for 8 or 9 hours of regenerative sleep, we're watching David Letterman or surfing the ever-changing Web or doing homework - or any one of many activities that eat into our sleep needs.

Stress, pain and muscle cramps in my back and legs conspire to wreck my sleep experience almost every night. To say I have teetered on the edge of being a nervous wreck sometimes is an understatement.I was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia by two physicians in the late 1990s, several years after the back injury took me off the workplace. (A third physician declared the pain was 'all in my head' and stated that Fibromyalgia does not exist.)
I've tried many sleep solutions, as recounted in my Hootowls lens, and often get just enough relief to be able to sleep for a prolonged period until the pain wakes me up again.
The day before I tried the pzizz I was tired from lack of sleep but not overly so. I'd gotten about four hours of rest, and muscle cramps in my legs woke me up a few times during those hours. I tapped on the pzizz MP3 sleep module, kicked off my shoes and leaned back in my chair, headphones on.
Fifteen minutes later, I awoke from my reverie. Alert, refreshed, awake - no leg cramps, no back cramps, no stress attacks. It was like someone had found my Reset button and pushed it.
