Custom Christmas Cards - Retro Style
Retro means different things to different people. The card on the left is titled Retro Christmas Card by it's designer Vintage66. To me, it's Retro -- someone else may consider it Vintage. Who's right?
Some people interchange the terms Vintage Christmas and Retro Christmas. These terms are pretty subjective right now because they are considered new terms. So what do they really mean?
A guideline as it pertains to fashion can be used for other items as well:
"Retro" refers to 60's and 70's
"Vintage" refers to anything dated after 1920 thru the 1980's
"Antique" means items pre-dating 1920
To me, "Retro is mainly the 1950's and 1960's and maybe, early 70's while "Vintage" is any time before that. Anything after the 70's, at least to me, is still too new to be vintage or retro! To my daughter, "Retro" is anytime prior to 1990 and "Vintage" is just plain old!
This is a collection of my favorite custom Christmas cards. These Retro and Vintage Cards and stamps always make me smile and think of "It's a Wonderful Life", "Miracle on 34th Street", and the Rat Pack Christmas Album. I hope you enjoy perusing the past with me!
