Retro Fifties Style is Back
Remember when Elvis was the King? At a lot of levels I still believe that he is. Yes I am a big fan of music and love a lot of bands and solo artists but its still hard to beat a good Elvis tune.
"Old is new and new is Old", I can't remember where or when I heard that but I know I did not come up with it on my own but it seems to fit when we talk about the retro fifties.
The hey days of the fifties were well before my time but amazingly have had a big influence on my life. Love the styling of the cars and even a lot of the fifties music. Also this is around the time when vinyl LP's started showing up and every one was spinning their favorite tunes.
So have the fifties made a comeback? If you take a look around the available audio equipment these days you would tend to think so. I know turntables have never really gone away but they did take a break from the mainstream. Take a look around today and you will find that they just may be on their way back. It just may be the time to dust off the old albums and get ready to spin them again in that reminiscent fifties style.

What Other Influences has the Fifties Had on Us?
Let's not forget about the diners and the fifties furniture that dominated stores with fountain machines and the ever popular Juke Box, once again available in the 50s retro styling. Who can forget about the times we spent leafing through the selections and scrounging up change to listen to our favorites. Elvis was definitely the King of the jukeboxes I remember (even though it wasn't the fifties that I recall :).There were many more as well, Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Nat King Cole, Bill Haley and His Comets and Bobby Darrin just to name a few. What about the fifties fashion? The fifties clothes changed just as fast as the car styles, the fifties dresses that all the women and girls wore were colorful just like all of the other fifties styles. It seems color were at the forefront of everything, bright and flashy was in.
Just like the fashions are new you may find a new list on the Juke Boxes of today but the retro fifties styling is a flashback regardless of your music list. 50s retro styling doesn't mean fifties technology though. Most Juke Boxes offer CD players as well as MP3 hookups and even iPod docks. Some you can even hook up to the internet and have a touch screen for videos and iTunes... Definitely not the Fifties any more.

- hhhmmm... not sure if that was the 50's or 70's either. Maybe I should expand a little to include the 60's and 70's... maybe an addition or a new lens would be good.
