Old Phone Handsets for Your Cell Phone

Long before cell phones became an attachment to everyone's and their mother's ear, there was the antique telephone handset created back in the 20s that provided a classic mouth-to-ear telephone conversation. These vintage telephones were big, chunky and completely unportable. The retro phone handset kept you doing only one thing, listening to the person you were talking to on the phone, (not driving, shopping, working on the computer, or anything else). The retro telephone of years ago created the closest thing to intimacy of a face-to-face conversation that technology would allow back then. Now, it seems as though these vintage telephones are making their way back into our lives through the use of modern technology. How can YOU enjoy a blast from the past using an old phone handset? The best way is to hook up a retro phone handset to your cellphone or computer. After all these years, the retro phone handset including the YUBZ retro handset and Bluetooth retro handset are among the hottest selling cell phone accessories on the market this year. Read on to learn why, YOU, might even want to consider going old school with your cell phone.

Retro Phone Handset

Compared with cellphones, retro phone handsets of years ago were not only more comfortable to hold, they also tended to have better sound quality and were virtually impossible to lose. But how could you converse on one of these old phone handsets these days? Ironically, the best way is to hook up a retro phone handset to your cellphone or computer.

Keep in mind that although these retro phone handsets may support only a handful of cell phones, you can buy inexpensive cell phone adapters that will let you connect them to pretty much any model. There are also adapters to hook the handsets up to your computer for use with services like Skype and Google Voice Chat.

Bluetooth Retro Handset

Okay, so apparently this Bluetooth stuff is named after a 10th century king of Denmark who enjoyed eating blueberries a bit too much, resulting in blue stained teeth. Harold "Bluetooth" Gormson helped to unite Sweden, Norway, and Denmark much like the way Bluetooth helps to unite your wireless gadgets under a single standard. And did we mention that the Bluetooth logo is composed of the rune characters representing his initials - H and B. But that's enough useless trivia for today - let's move onto something much more important!

We have taken the ever-popular Retro Handset and updated it to connect to your cell phone using Bluetooth technology. That's right! No more tangled up phone cords with a bluetooth retro handset. Now people will think you're really crazy talking into a old-time handset connected to... nothing.

Retro Phone

The 302 Series Phone was introduced in 1937 and was the first in the collection to incorporate the bell in the base of the unit. Designed by Henry Dreyfuss and originally cast in metal, this piece was later produced using a heavy-duty plastic housing. The retro style appearance is combined with a rugged construction earning it the nickname "The Cow's Hoof" because of its lipped hoof-style base. This early desk version served as the standard for the better part of World War II while telephone design efforts were halted due to defense work. Whether for its beauty or its brawn, the Crosley 302 Desk Phone is surely a conversation piece in any setting.

That would certainly help reduce some of the worries people have about cell phones causing brain tumors etc. Personally, I don't use my cell phone enough to worry about it but it's tempting to get one for using skype on my PC.
