The internet is overflowing with claims of one shot, cure all pills/diets/machines/fads that all offer everything on a platter for a low, low price plus a free set of steak knives ... or even more suspicious for FREE.

Reverse cell phone listings are no exception to this rule but should be viewed with the same scrutiny. This is because anyone offering anything for free actually wants something from you because what would be the point in all that effort and advertising to get nothing back? Altruism? All residential numbers and business numbers are held on an authorities database and phone directories simply get all their information from this source for FREE.

Creating a reverse cell phone directory on the other hand becomes a lot harder. Cell numbers are NOT public domain so there is no central database with all this information! The numbers are not protected by law they are just not collated by law. This means the cell number websites must find new inventive ways of making their database.

They do this by buying listings from marketing companies, telemarketers, charities, other websites and more. These smaller listings are then compiled and added into their database. As you can see this is a serious investment in time and money, how would a free site make money? Advertising? Now way!

Good reverse cellular number listings are serious businesses and the premium sites charge a small fee for their services to recoup their losses and make money like any business. Free sites do the same but with trickery and deception and with a poorer product.
