Review a Blockbuster Movie from the Fabulous 50′s

Ranked #138,240 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund

I can’t believe how many of these 50′s movies I have actually seen and some several times. Doesn’t everyone remember Marilyn holding her dress and saying, “Isn’t it delicious?” in Seven Year Itch? And who knew Marlon Brando could sing before seeing Guys and Dolls? I think I still have nightmares about The Blob after having stayed up too late while babysitting one night. I just wanted smack Grace Kelly in High Noon, at least, until the end. I think I learned things I didn’t know about racism from Imitation of Life. We must have watched Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments every spring for decades? I still like to imitate Jean Hagen’s voice from Singin in the Rain, “Watsa matta wit da way I taulk? Em I dumm or sometin? Necks time riote me a speech. I could mamorize it.” She is so funny. And how many times has 12 Angry Men been redone? They did a version of it on an episode of Happy Days, The Odd Couple, All in the Family, Matlock, Simpsons, Family Matters, 7th Heaven, Monk, Malcom in the Middle, Bones, and several more TV shows I can’t think of at the moment. It’s a classic great drama that just doesn’t grow old. These are all adult movies from the 50′s. Family Friendly movies from the 50′s will be on another list.

Need help? Here is a short tutorial that will get you started creating your own lens.

Now is your turn. Pick a classic 50′s movie or two to review for yourself. If you don’t see your favorite here, review one of your choice using this link. Have fun.

Thanks for compiling a list of such neat movies. Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments are such great pre-Easter movies.

I think so too. We always watched them as a family every Easter. Mom would make deviled eggs and we would watch together. That's funny isn't it? Deviled eggs and the Ten Commandments.

Me too. I have several Bette Davis movies on DVD. My all time favorite, I think, is All This and Heaven Too. Its a great movie. If you haven't seen it, you should. However it isn't a 50's movie so I couldn't include it in this list. Boo.

12 Angry Men. YES. One of my most favorite films ever and I've told everyone this and people tend to look at me in absolute disgust when they learn it's black and white. Hmp. Yes, will rewatch and write a review ASAP. Thanks for this gorgeous list! Lots of really nice films...
