Success University Review - Introduction

Welcome,

My name is Damien Dupont. I have been a Success University student since May 2006, currently at the Counselor level. I've created this lens to provide an in-depth review of what Success University has to offer both as a personal development resource, as well as to cover the business opportunity that it incorporates.

In the first two sections of this lens, I am going to provide some background information on Success University's founders and its reason for being, as well as a few thoughts of my own on how we can derive the most benefit in our lives by listening to, reading, and studying personal development materials on a regular basis.

Success UniversityIn section three, I am going to provide an overview of the available curriculum, the educators on Success University's faculty, and review the available course categories. In section four, I will provide an introductory overview of the Success University business and income generation opportunity, the organizational structure, the two different membership types, and the advancement ranks.

Section five will detail how the compensation plan works, the three primary income streams available, and the necessary qualifications for these. Finally, section six onwards will be dedicated to covering the different strategies that one can use to build a Success University business, both offline as well as online. This will include tips and techniques such as lead generation and prospecting strategies, and some proven contact scripts.

Part 1 - Key Founders Behind Success University 

Success University launched in January 2005 and became the #1 most visited personal development website on the Internet in their first year, a record which they still hold today.

As at November 2008, over 90,000 students have now enrolled worldwide (from about 180 countries) into Success University to date. Whilst many of these students would have since let their membership lapse, this is nonetheless indicative of the tremendous growth of Success University in only a three and a half years - and we are only so far scratching the surface.

Matt Morris with Les BrownThe founder, president and CEO of Success University is Matt Morris (see pic at left with Les Brown). He was 28 years young when he founded Success University in 2005, yet he had already generated a six figure income prior to the age of 24 through his involvement as a distributor with another network marketing firm.

Just three years earlier at 21 he had been homeless, living in his beat up Honda Civic, and bathing in gas station bathrooms. Between the ages of 24 to 29 he became the top money earner in two network marketing companies, as well as a millionaire several times over.

Matt's experiences on the road to success demonstrated to him that personal growth always precedes business growth, reinforcing his belief in the value of personal development materials. His father committed suicide when Matt was only 13 years old, and Matt firmly believes that his father would most likely not have done so had he been exposed to self improvement materials and principles.

These two factors, coupled with others, fuelled Matt's vision to create Success University in order to provide a medium for people to access education that could improve their lives, in the framework of a system that provides an incentive for fellow students to "spread the word". Matt has been profiled on both U.S. national, as well as international, television and radio.

Tony Michael with Damien DupontThe second of the three key founding figures behind Success University is the Vice-President of Sales, Tony Michael (see pic at left with myself in April 2008). Matt and Tony became friends in their early twenties when both of them were growing as network marketing distributors.

Tony has an amazing story which I was privy to hear from him on stage when I attended the Success University Convention at the Melbourne Sofitel in February 2008. I won't go into his story here as it's best shared by Tony himself (I'm sure he will do so on stage again in the future), but in summary his mother disowned him at age 16 and he spent 1½ years living in an old 1980 Subaru (from memory) which he would park at truck-stops, whilst bathing in gas station rest-rooms (Matt & Tony have this in common), and paying his way through school with multiple part-time jobs.

He finally tracked down his father in his late teens, and moved to California to be reunited with him for the first time since he was about 3yrs old (when his mother had left his father and changed their family name).

Tony was the youngest person to have been featured on the front cover of Six Figure Income Magazine at age 22. Whilst Tony achieved spectacular success at a very young age, it didn't come easy.

On one of his CD's, he recalls someone asking him what was the best training he had ever been through, to which Tony answered "the training of 30,000 phone calls". The guy said: "Wow! Where do you go to that training?", thinking that someone had broken it down and provided an encapsulated blueprint to follow, to which Tony answers "No, I did it. I worked it out. I made so many phone calls every day for this period of time, and it came to well over 30,000, but rough figures I just say 30,000".

So whilst Tony's rise to success was rapid, he paid some very significant dues to achieve what he did in his first twenty four months as a network marketer. He lacked a lot of confidence when he started out, so obviously, an enormous Dream and Desire were the driving force to make him take the extraordinary level of action that he did.

Johnny & Crystal WimbreyThe third founding figure behind Success University is Johnny Wimbrey (see pic at left with his wife Crystal). Unlike Matt or Tony, Johnny and Crystal Wimbrey came onboard Success University as regular students and have achieved the status as Success University's top money earners at the Ambassador level.

Johnny and Crystal capped their first binary in 2008, reaching a passive income level in excess of one million dollars per annum (note: "capping the binary" will be explained in the "Earn While You Learn" Business Overview, section 4b below).

Although not a partner at the corporate level of Success University, Johnny has become a de-facto Director of Training, and often accompanies Matt Morris and Tony Michael to the company's worldwide conventions.

Johnny also has come from a challenged background. His earliest memory is of living in a battered women's shelter where his mother had fled with her children to avoid an abusive family situation.

Johnny Wimbrey's 'From The Hood To Doing Good'Johnny wrote about his teenage years in a book entitled "From the Hood, to Doing Good".

Johnny had already become successful prior to his involvement with Success University. He was pursuing a speaking career and writing books and audio programs but realized that Success University would complement what he was doing. He also realized that Success University was going to move with or without him, so he decided to join Matt Morris at the outset when the company launched.

Part 2 - Success University's "Raison D'Être" 

In the first instance, Success University is an online campus that contains a wealth of structured human potential and personal development courses provided from over 140 of the world's most famous personal success speakers, trainers and authors, and delivered in the form of streaming audio, video, and eBook courses.

There is also the option to receive the physically mailed Monthly Empowerment Series, which includes the Success Express newsletter, three audio CD's as well as a DVD shipped to you for only $7.95 p/mth above the regular membership fee.

Some of the titles that I've received through the Monthly Empowerment Series include:

  • Les Brown's Choose Your Future on DVD
  • Jim Rohn & Chris Widener's 12 Pillars of Success on CD
  • Bill Bartmann's 9 Steps to Achieve Any Goal on DVD
  • Dr. Denis Waitley and Brian Tracy on DVD
  • Byrd Baggett's Breakfast of Champions on CD
  • Jerry Clark interviewing Chris Widener, T.C. Cummings, Dr. Tom Hill, and Donna Krech across multiple DVD's
  • Several CD's from Zig Ziglar, including The Qualities of Success, Changing The Picture, and The Goals Program.

Programs like these would normally cost well in excess of what we pay for our monthly Success University tuition if purchased in a store, online or via mail-order. However, due to the numbers of active students enrolled in Success University, the royalties paid to the creators of these programs can be spread between the student base, thereby significantly reducing their cost to us.

In many respects, Success University is like a normal learning institution, but instead of learning mathematics, science, or mechanics, we have access to courses on leadership, communication, self-confidence, goal setting, motivation and self-esteem - all of the "real life" skills and principles required to be successful in life - things we were never taught in school.

Success University's faculty members include many of the biggest names in the personal growth and self-improvement industry. People such as Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar, Les Brown, Dr. Denis Waitley and Brian Tracy. Courses from these people as well as the courses of many other notable achievers and success coaches are contained in the Success University members' area.

The available curriculum allows you to delve into, adopt and emulate the timeless philosophies, beliefs, thinking and personal behaviors that highly successful people use to design and live their dream life in both personal, family, financial, and spiritual spheres.

Success UniversityRepetition and persistence are the keys to success when applying personal development information in your life.

What I mean by this is that it is necessary for us to be reading and listening to personal empowerment materials daily (ideally), if not at least regularly.

Listening, watching and reading interrupts the conversation going on in our minds, and directs our thoughts in a positive, inspirational and constructive direction. We all move towards our primary focus.

Zig Ziglar often repeats the following at his speeches: "Repetition is the mother of learning; that means it is the father of action; that makes it the architect of accomplishment". Zig also encourages us to enroll into "Automobile University", and turn our drive time into personal growth time. As I work from home, I don't drive much, so I slip in a CD when I am preparing meals or doing the dishes, and will watch inspirational and personal development DVD's whilst I eat lunch or dinner (not every meal... I enjoy good movies too!).

Does this take discipline? Yes! On most days my first inclination is that I would much rather listen to some music. So my rule is to listen to one inspirational or motivational recording first, whilst I am preparing breakfast and lunch, and then I free myself up to put some music on when I'm preparing dinner. This discipline is necessary, particularly at the outset. Later on it becomes easier because you will have formed a fresh habit.

Listening to, watching, and reading self-improvement material consistently over time will ensure that these success principles seep into your consciousness and become second nature to you. You will then see the principles and knowledge you are learning start to bear fruit in your life.

Think of your mind as a garden. You can clear the weeds, till the soil and add the positive stuff (seeds, organic fertilizer, water), but if you don't regularly tend to your garden on an ongoing basis, the weeds will return! The same applies to your mind, and the positive and negative thoughts within it. And at the end of the day, the results we produce in our lives are directly related to our state of mind and the beliefs that we each hold about ourselves - our self-image. We all need to tend to our garden daily to achieve the best results in our lives.

Success University provides the cream of the crop in personal growth materials, structured into specific subject matter categories. At the same time however, it is a business and vehicle which you can use to not only empower the lives of others, but to also free yourself financially.

With the Success University curriculum, you can learn time proven success principles to not only grow personally, but also to develop a long-term passive income through the Success University business opportunity should you choose to do so.

In other words, you can Learn and Earn at the same time, and your earnings can become passive, long-term and residual in nature.

Part 3 - Success University Educators and Curriculum 

In early October 2008, Success University unveiled their new and overhauled Learning Center. In the words of Success University president and founder, Matt Morris: "We spent more than a year researching all of the top online platforms, and this one far exceeds anything we have ever seen".

Content wise, Success University's Learning Center contains courses from over 140 of the greatest minds in personal development, as well as other fields, from all over the world. Courses from speakers, authors, and success coaches such as:

Jim Rohn has also made available his entire One Year Success Plan within the Learning Center. It includes a 500+ page downloadable workbook, 52 one week lessons each as a downloadable pdf file, twelve monthly conference calls (including Zig Ziglar and Loral Langemeier), and Jim Rohn and Chris Widener's 12 Pillars of Success. Jim's twelve month Success Plan covers such topics as leadership, wealth creation, health, speed reading, increasing your memory, in addition to the core focus of personal development. It is available for download in its entirety to all Success University students, including those that join on the 14 Day Trial for $2, which is donated to charity I might add.

Indeed a key feature of the new Learning Center is that we now have the ability to download all of the courses within the library to our own Mac or PC so that we can truly be mobile with the curriculum and take the courses (be they audio, video or reading) on the train, or whilst in the gym, or on a plane, or to simply listen to the audio courses in your car.

Unlike Jim Rohn's 52 Week Success Plan which can be downloaded in its entirety, for the standard courses we receive one download course credit each week. This measure is necessary to prevent some people from joining on the 14 day trial, and downloading thousands upon thousands of dollars of course material all in one go. However, this restriction applies only to downloading. It is still possible to attend any of the courses at any time within the Learning Center itself. All of the courses are currently within ten categories in the Learning Center:

The Success University Learning Center is divided into three main libraries: an audio library, a video library, and a reading library. For each course that we attend and complete, a certificate is created so that we have a record of accomplishment. You can peruse a list and summary of some of the Success University courses here.

In addition to the courses from the 140 plus experts available to you in the Learning Center, there are weekly live Faculty Calls from further experts which students can dial into, and/or obtain the recording for after the event. In addition to this, there is the physically delivered Success University Monthly Empowerment Series which is mailed monthly to active students who choose to receive it, and includes a newsletter, three audio CD's as well as a DVD shipped to you for only $7.95 p/mth above the regular membership fee. Part 4a - "Earn While You Learn" Business Overview 

Member Referral Websites, Organisational Structure and Spillover

I covered the first purpose and raison d'être for Success University in sections 1, 2 and 3 above. The second purpose of Success University, for those who wish to build a business and create an ongoing passive income, is the Success University referral system. Sections 4a through to 5c below will cover the Success University business and income generation opportunity, how the compensation plan works and the necessary qualifications for the different available income streams.

All Success Uni members automatically receive their own websites exactly like mine (below) which we can refer other people to:

Anyone who enrolls into Success University through one of your web-pages becomes one of your Personally Referred Members as a part of your downline, and you can be financially rewarded for those referrals. You can also be rewarded for all the downline in your organization, not just those that you have personally referred.  This includes members which have come to you through the efforts of your Personally Referred Members, or through the efforts of members in their downline, as well as through "Spillover" downline that you receive from your upline. Here is a graphical example to explain what I mean by Spillover Downline:

In this example, Bob, Mary and Sue are your Personally Referred Members, also known as Personally Sponsored Members. Jane and Beth have been personally referred by Mary. The members depicted by the orange ovals have been referred by your upline. Success University operates as a Non-Flushing Binary. A Binary signifies two, and this means that each member only has two legs with which to expand their organization. In the above diagram, your upline had already referred both Amy and Yourself to Success University, so when he/she referred René and Marc, he/she had to put them either on his/her left leg (under you) or right leg (under Amy). So in this example, René and Marc are Spillover Downline in your organization.

Whilst I cover "Qualifications" in more detail in section 5c, providing you meet the minimum qualification of personally referring at least two active members to Success University, then you can be paid based on the entire size of your Success University organization, irrespective of who put them there.

Hint: If you are interested in joining Success University but are putting it off, this should be a Big Clue to you! The amount of "time in" does matter. I have been a member since May 2006. At the time of writing this (November 2008), I have only personally referred 23 students to Success University in the past 2½ years. However, I have a total of 8,294 members in my organization. 8,271 of these members have been generated both through Upline Spillover, as well as the efforts of people in my downline.

Now whilst this sounds like an impressive number, I have to be honest in telling you that many of these members are no longer active. But I provide you with these totals so that you are aware of the simple importance and benefit of "time in" in the business, especially if you have been referred by an active leader who is generating "Spillover" volume in his/her organization.

This was the case with me in my first year in the business. The person who sponsored me close to mid-2006 put a lot of members in, and with only two legs, I benefited from about half of those numbers being put in my downline. Amongst those people, some rose to be leaders. In the stronger of my two legs, known as my Power Leg, I currently have 48 Councilors as well as 4 Directors (covered in section 4b: Ranks): Daniel Kim, Jason Cardamone, Jeremy Drapal and Joe Frias.

Now that leg has sprung a life of its own, which allows me to focus most of my efforts on building my weaker leg. This benefits members in my own organization too. If I place new members on my Power Leg, they will benefit from the Spillover generated by the Councilors and Director downline from me on that leg. If I place new members on my weaker leg, they will benefit from the fact that I place the majority of my personally sponsored new members on that leg, and therefore most new members I refer will become Spillover into their organization as time passes.

Spillover is not a holy grail to riches. You still need to put your own efforts in to reap the rewards of the volume gifted to you (see section 5c Compensation Plan Qualifications). However, it sure does make life much easier when you can focus most of your business building efforts on just one leg.

Part 4b - Basic versus Premium Members, and Ranks 

Having provided an overview of the non-flushing binary organizational structure of Success University, as well as the concept of spillover in section 4a above, I'll now provide an overview of the two membership types at Success University, as well as the different advancement ranks. Both of these have a bearing on commission payments available to you through the business building opportunity, hence it's logical that I cover these first.

Basic Members versus Premium Members

There are two avenues of entry and participation in Success University. As a Basic Member, or as a Premium Member.

A person who comes in as a Basic Member pays $2 to lock in their position via Success University's Special Offer page. This entitles them to a 14 Day Free Trial which provides full access to the member's area and the curriculum in the Success University Learning Center, as well as securing them a position in their sponsor's downline and entitling them to the business volume, and possible future weekly and monthly commissions, from new students that are placed under them either by their upline, or by themselves, or by people downline from them. Before the end of the 14 day trial period, if they don't like what they see, they can cancel their membership and will not be billed the standard $49.95 p/mth tuition fee. If they decide to remain beyond the 14 day period, then on the 15th day from the start of their membership, their card will be debited for $49.95 for their first month's tuition.

A Premium Member is someone who joins Success University and takes the option of the Premium Package for a one time $149.95 fee. This covers your first month's tuition, and entitles you to receive double the commissions that a Basic Member would receive on any business volume in your organization. As a Premium Member, you will also receive the Premium Package in the mail which currently (as at Nov 2008) consists of:

- Zig Ziglar on DVD
- Jim Rohn on DVD
- Brian Tracy: Maximum Selling Strategies on CD
- Denis Waitley: Acres of Diamonds on CD
- Jim Rohn: Building Your Networking Business on CD
- Jerry Clark: Murphy's Committee on CD

For Premium Members, the $149.95 is all that is charged in the first month. On the anniversary of your join date on the following month, the normal $49.95 p/mth (plus $7.95 s/h: optional) then begins and applies thereafter, which is the same as for a Basic Member. However, if you have purchased the one-time $149.95 Premium Package, you remain a Premium Member for the life of your membership.

Advancement Ranks

There are three main types of compensation that you can earn in Success University, but the amount that you earn in the first type is determined by your rank. There are six rank levels:

Student: This is the level that we all first come in on. To remain a student your $49.95 monthly tuition needs to be maintained. Students can earn $20 Fast Start weekly commissions (explained in section 5a) on Premium Members whom they personally refer to Success University.

Counselor: A Counselor is someone who maintains a minimum of 5 Personally Referred active students in their organization.

Director: A Director is someone who maintains a minimum of 10 Personally Referred active students in their organization and who has at least 3 personally sponsored organizations with a Counselor anywhere in each of those three legs.

Executive Director: An Executive Director is someone who maintains a minimum of 20 Personally Referred active students in their organization and who has at least 3 personally sponsored organizations with a Director anywhere in each of those three legs.

Ambassador (formerly known as Vice President): An Ambassador is someone who maintains a minimum of 30 Personally Referred active students in their organization and who has at least 3 personally sponsored organizations with an Executive Director anywhere in each of those three legs.

Presidential Ambassador: This is an Ambassador who has Capped the Binary and who has been allocated an additional business center directly above their capped center. I will explain what "capping the binary" means in section 5b, but know for now that you'll be earning at least one million dollars per annum in residual income once you cap a binary.

At the time of writing (November 2008), Johnny and Crystal Wimbrey (mentioned in section 1 above) are the only ones to have done this and are the only Presidential Ambassadors to date. But that's still pretty good going for 3½ years effort, and I'm sure more Ambassadors will progress to this level as time passes.

Part 5a - Success Uni's Compensation Plan: Fast Start Bonuses 

Three Main Ways To Get Paid In Success University

Having covered the difference between Basic and Premium Members, as well as the different Ranks in the preceding two sections, sections 5a to 5c will now cover the three principal ways that we are remunerated in Success University. These are through the Fast Start Bonus, the Weekly Binary and Monthly Binary Dual Team Commissions.

Please note that all the income figures which I will hereby provide apply to Premium Members. Basic Members receive exactly half of what a Premium Member receives.

1. Fast Start Bonuses (paid weekly)

Success University always pay out a total of $40 in Fast Start bonuses for each $149.95 Premium Package sold. Whenever you personally refer someone to Success University who purchases the $149.95 Premium Package, you will receive $20 to $40 depending on your rank. A Student receives $20; a Counselor $25; a Director $30; an Executive Director $35; and an Ambassador $40.

However, you are not only paid on those you personally refer to Success University. Once you reach the rank of Counselor or above, you are entitled to receive weekly Fast Start Bonuses on anyone in your group, not just those referred to Success University by yourself. This occurs when your rank is higher than the referrer, and when your rank is higher than any other upline in between yourself and the referrer, and is paid infinite levels deep. When this is true, you will receive the difference in commission due. The following diagram illustrates a basic example of how the weekly Fast Start Bonuses work:

The example above is a simple illustration of how the $40 in Fast Start Bonuses that Success University pays out on each Premium Package purchase is distributed, based upon the rank of the referrer/sponsor of the new Premium Member. In the above example, as a Director, you receive $5. If there was no Counselor in between yourself and the new student, as a Director you would receive a $10 Fast Start Bonus. Had you personally referred the new member, as a Director, you would have received a $30 Fast Start Bonus. If your were at the Student rank, then you would receive a $20 Fast Start Bonus.

This is a bonus paid to infinity on the difference between your achieved rank and the achieved rank of the people in your organization. Once your organization grows, the income potential with just the Weekly Fast Start bonus can become truly astounding due to the fact that you are entitled to receive it to infinite levels deep.

You are also entitled to a 10% Matching Bonus on all of your personally enrolled students' Fast Start Bonuses. How this works is that if you have, for example, seven personally referred members who are each about to receive $100 this week in Fast Start Bonuses, you will also be paid 10% of that total figure for that week, which would be $70 to you as a Matching Bonus ($700 x 10%). If your seven personally referred members were to earn $1,000 that week in Fast Start Bonuses, you would receive and extra $700 as a Matching Bonus.

Part 5b - Compensation Plan: Weekly & Monthly Binary Commissions 

Binary Compensation Plan: Every time you have of total of six members in your organization with a balance of at least 1/3rd of those students on one side, and 2/3rds of those students on another, you have created what is known as a Cycle. Every six members is going to equal up to $40 in recurring commissions payable to you on that Cycle, subject to the Qualifications covered in section 5c.

Binary commissions are paid to infinite levels deep, and it doesn't matter whether you have enrolled those students personally, or whether they have been enrolled by other members in your downline, or whether they have been placed below you by your upline (i.e. Spillover). The figure below depicts what I mean by "in between 1/3rd to 2/3rds balance":

A payment Cycle will be created in any one of the above three configurations. Let's take the first example in this image, which is the 4:2. If you actually had 10 people on your left team (team 1) instead of 4, and 2 people on your right team (team two), you would still only get paid for one Cycle of six people. That is, you would only be paid for four of the ten people on your left team. However, once your right team grows by just two more people, you would then qualify for a second cycle of six, and you would then be remunerated for eight of the ten people on your left team.

The Binary Compensation Plan is designed to reward effort. When I refer new members, I always place them on either the extreme right or extreme left of my two teams. By doing this, I maximize the number of my downline who benefit from my Spillover because I am always placing new members right at the bottom of either of my two teams. The flip side however, is that I am only building one extremity of my downlines' teams. In order for anyone in my downline to be remunerated for each group of four new members I place under them, they will need to grow their "inside" / other leg by at least two members.

Besides rewarding effort, the beauty of a binary compensation plan is that it engenders the best team support of any network marketing compensation plan. This is because of the fact that you are rewarded infinite levels deep, so the incentive is always there for your upline, no matter how far upline he is, to assist you in building your business. And also for you to assist in the business building for anyone down in your organization as well. Even if they were two thousand levels below you, it can be just as though they were right underneath you as far as the compensation plan goes, so it really encourages team support. Many other network marketing compensation plans have a cut off point which doesn't provide for the same level of incentive in the way that a binary plan does.

Weekly Binary Commissions:

The Dual Team binary commissions come in two forms: Weekly & Monthly. In section 4b, I covered the fact that when a new member joins Success University, they have the choice of joining as a Basic Member ($49.95 p/mth tuition) or as a Premium Member. The Premium Member pays a one time $149.95 for a Premium Package, and then pays the same $49.95 p/mth after the first month that a Basic Member does. Weekly binary commissions are paid solely on the $149.95 Premium Member purchase.

The weekly binary commissions you are entitled to are not flushed. Example: Let's say you have accumulated ten Premium Members on your left leg, through a combination of personally referred, and/or some you obtained from upline spillover, and/or some from downline activity. Actually, it doesn't matter how they got there, providing you have personally referred at least two members to satisfy volume accumulation Qualifications.

Let's also say that you only have one person on your right leg, and therefore you don't qualify for a payout yet because you have not achieved a 1/3rd to 2/3rd balance for a 6 member Cycle. This is not an issue with this plan because that volume will hold for you indefinitely as long as you are an active member. As soon as you have a second person on your right leg, you will be qualified for a six member Cycle payout. And it does not matter how these new members arrived on either of your legs. Even if they were all through upline spillover, you would still get paid on them. You can earn up to $10,000 p/w with the weekly binary commissions.

Monthly Binary Commissions:

The monthly binary commissions are paid on the standard monthly $49.95 tuition of your downline members. This is where you earn ongoing residual income, month after month.

You can max out the monthly binary compensation plan with up to 1000 cycles per month, which equals up to $40,000 per month in income. That would be, for example sake, 4000 members on one leg and 2000 members on another. Sound like a big number? As I mentioned in section 4a, as at November 2008, I have only personally referred 23 students to Success University in the past 2½ years. However, I have a total of 8,294 members in my organization. 8,271 of these members have been generated through upline Spillover and the efforts of people in my downline. Now many of these members are no longer active, but I use the example to show that the numbers necessary to max out a binary are not pie in the sky. With only two legs to build on, we are ALL building depth. It's a team effort, and as time progresses, your Spillover team will grow deeper and deeper providing you have an active upline. And your Inside leg will grow too if you are putting some effort in!

Now I should state that the maximum $40K p/mth in the monthly binary plan is on top of the weekly binary compensation where you can earn up to $10K p/wk, as well as on top of the unlimited income you can earn through the Fast Start Bonus program. Once you have "capped a binary" at 1000 cycles per month on your business center, and whilst this is already a very significant income, probably at least $1mil per year, this does not mean that your prospects for further compensation end there.

Once you reach this point, Success University give you an additional business center directly above your "capped center" so that you can continue to build your business, but with the huge head-start that your pre-existing capped organization will form a power-leg under your new business center. This will allow you to work towards capping a second binary, or business center, with already two-thirds of the work accomplished. If you cap the second binary, Success University will create a third for you, and so on for each business center you cap, so that your growth and income potential is absolutely limitless with Success University.

I mentioned in section 1 that Johnny and Crystal Wimbrey capped their first business center in early 2008, just a little over three years since the launch of Success University.

As with the Weekly Binary commissions, once you are qualified, you are rewarded on all volume underneath you, irrespective of whether you personally referred them, or your downline have personally referred them, or whether they are Spillover put there for you by your upline. The chart below depicts the earnings that a Premium Member can make for different example numbers of "total students" in your downline. This assumes that these students are in a 1/3rds to 2/3rds balance on both of your two organizational legs.

Success University Monthly Binary Payout Chart

As shown above, we earn up to $40 per month for every Cycle of 6 students in our downline that are in a 1/3rds to 2/3rds balance between your two teams. The reason I say "up to $40" is because there is a safeguard in the binary compensation plan to ensure that no more than 60% of the total monthly tuition fees received by Success University are paid out in commissions. This is necessary due to the fact that commissions are paid infinite levels deep. My weekly cycles earn me on average between $32 to $36 due to this safeguard.

Part 5c - Compensation Plan Qualifications 

With both the Weekly and Monthly Binary Compensation Plans, we need to have personally sponsored at least one active person on our left team as well as one active person on our right team in order to "qualify to accumulate volume" and to receive commissions. For new members, a 30 day grace period is provided to do this in.

Remaining Qualified for Commissions: As our time in the business progresses, the minimum number of two active students to "qualify for commissions" (as distinct from "qualifying to accumulate volume") increases. For example, if you've been a member for four months, you will need a minimum of four active students to qualify for commissions. Once you have personally referred six active students, you are qualified for life so long as you maintain six personally referred active students within your organization each month. These don't have to be the same six. For example, if you have six personally referred active students in your eighth month in the business, but by the fourteenth month two of those have become inactive but in the meantime you have referred two others, then you will remain qualified for commissions.

Remaining Qualified to Accumulate Volume: As stated earlier in section 5b, commissions accumulated on Premium Member enrollments (i.e. the $149.95 Premium Package sales) in your organization are non-flushing. These are paid out in the Weekly Binary compensation plan. So long as you maintain one active personally referred student on each of your two teams, then you will continue to accumulate volume each month. In other words, you will earn up to $40 in the Weekly Binary plan for every Cycle of 6 Premium Students created in your organization.

An example is probably the best way to explain the difference between "qualifying for commissions" versus "qualifying to accumulate volume". Let's say that in your first month in the business you personally refer two new students which you place, one on your left team and one on your right team. For the next seven months, and due to other commitments, you don't personally refer anyone new, and therefore you are not qualified for commissions at this point. However, your two personally referred members have remained active (i.e. they have maintained their $49.95 p/mth tuition). During this seven month period, and thanks to upline spillover, 120 new Premium Members have been placed on your left leg. Because you have remained "qualified to accumulate volume" during all this time (because your two personally referred students from your first month have remained enrolled), you have now accumulated a potential of up to $1,200 in Weekly Binary Commissions owed to you once you qualify to receive payment for them.

So now in month eight, you get serious and personally refer four new Premium Members on your right leg. By doing so, you have now "qualified for commissions" by having a total of six personally referred active students in your organization. You will have also now created two Cycles of six students each, on which you will be paid in the Weekly Binary Plan: up to $80 payout. Whilst you only personally referred four new Premium Members, because you put them on your right leg, these matched out against eight premium students which you had received on your left leg in the preceding months through upline spillover.

As you can see from this example, this is the reason that it is important to try to maintain one personally referred student on each of your two teams at all times to remain "qualified to accumulate volume" (these two students can be either Basic or Premium Members - it doesn't matter). Even if you don't "qualify for commissions" straight away, you will still "qualify to accumulate volume" which can be paid out to you later.

In the example above I stated that you have received 120 Premium Students on your left leg through a combination of upline Spillover and/or downline activity, and that you had therefore accumulated a potential of up to $1,200 in Weekly Binary Commissions once you qualify to receive payment for them. To have the full amount due to you released, you would have to have a total of 60 Premium Students come in on your right leg through a combination of either your own effort, and/or through upline Spillover, or the efforts of the members downline from you in your right leg. 120 Premium Students on your left would match out against 60 Premium Students on your right, and you would have created 30 Cycles. At up to $40 per Cycle, this would equal a payout of up to $1,200 in Weekly Binary commissions.

I just wrote a full reply to you and found I couldn't post it because I'm limited to 1000 characters. So I'm posting my answer across three separate reply boxes.

Most network marketing / mlm companies get branded as 'Pyramid Schemes' by a small percentage of people who don't know better. This said, some mlm's are pretty shady and border on being pyramid schemes. Pyramid & ponzi shemes are illegal by the way.

Here's an excerpt from p.35 of the pdf: (pyramid shemes) ... "concentrate on the commissions you could earn just for recruiting new distributors" and which "generally ignore the marketing and selling of products and services."

However, as per that quote "generally" means there are exceptions to that rule. Another criteria to apply is that often newer members will fund the profits for older members.

In contrast, legitimate network marketing companies like Success University have a product of value for consumers and are "reward for effort" based and not seniority based. Take me for instance. I have four Directors in my downline who are making more money than I am as I'm only a Councilor (note: actually Councilors can make more than Directors, but I won't get into that right now).

Whilst I've been in longer, and my organisation will have the greatest number of active students compared to any of my downline Directors, it is those downline Directors that have put the most effort into generating those active students, hence they are rewarded for that. That's where the 1/3rd to 2/3rds leg balance comes into play that I wrote about in Section 5b (above).

I hope this goes some way to clearing up your question Nat.
