Site Build It Independent Review

There is so much advertising hype about Ken Evoy's Site Build It (SBI) that it's hard to know what is what. And it's hard to know what is real and what is fabricated.
Therefore the purpose of this Site Build It Review is to give you my personal opinion on the good and bad of SBI. And in doing so give you a fair idea if it is the system for you or not.
To start with, I would like to say that in opposition to the general opinion amongst SBI users - "It is not for everyone". If you missed that, I will say it again - "I don't feel that SBI is right for everyone".
Am I saying it is bad; No!. It's just that it does not suit everyone.
So whom am I?
And what are my qualifications for writing this review?
I have used SBI to start 3 internet businesses in the past. 2 of which are managed through SBI and are fairly successful; the other one is not so successful and is now managed with a different host.
It is now several years since I first started using Ken Evoy's SBI. I now have a dozen sites and make my full time living online.

Should You Use SBI?
My own site build it independent review.
I truly don't think SBI is right for everyone.
What category do you fit in?
The Newbie
If you are a total newbie to the internet; if you have never built a website; don't know any html; have no idea about hosting and domains - then SBI is for you. Don't waste any time - it is made with You in mind. BUY SBI HERE.
Unsure
If you don't know what sort of internet business to set up and don't have a niche (or even know what one is) then SBI is a brilliant place to start. That was me a few years ago, so it is definitely right for you. BUY SBI HERE.
Offline Business Person
If you have a brick and mortar offline business and want to build your own web presence. I would say go for it! BUY SBI HERE.
Knowledgeable About Online Business
But if you already know about html and ftp; and know how to get a domain and how to get hosting; and know your niche - then I suggest you might prefer to look at XsitePro or a WordPress Blog.
Experienced Internet Marketer
If you are an experienced internet marketer I think you would be better off with another system - something like XsitePro or a WordPress Blog.

What is SBI?
Site Build It (aka SBI or SiteSell) is a complete package for starting a website. But it is more than just site building software. It's a complete internet marketing business package. Within the system is all the tools and knowledge you need to set up and manage your very own web business. I am just going to repeat that - it will assist you set up a BUSINESS.
Within the SBI system there are tons of indispensable tools. One of the most important being "BrainStorm It". (You will get used to the "It" - all the tools are named like this). It is a clever tool that comes as part of the system and it will help you find the perfect niche and keywords for your online business.

Is Site Build It A Scam?
Having used SBI for a few years now, I had not even considered this. I mean I get what I pay for each year and so what is the scam?
The short answer is there is NO scam - they are a reputable company, you pay for what you get.
As I have stated before SBI is NOT a get rich quick scheme. In fact, I can't even guarantee that you will make money using it; but it certainly is not a scam.
A few myths:
1) You don't own the domain name - totally nonsense!
Of course you own the domain name - all my domain names are in my name.
2) You can't move your site from SBI - totally nonsense!
I have moved a total of 8 sites out of SBI and have never had any sort of problem. Sure you will need to re-do some parts of them, but it's no big deal.
Why did I move them? As mentioned above I am now an experienced internet marketer and no longer need the hand holding that SBI provides. It's a great starting point but when you get more experienced you may find you don't need all the tools provided and can get cheaper hosting elsewhere. Having said that I still have two of my most profitable sites within SBI.
3) Part of SBI is the ability to provide newsletter and an auto-responder; now I have read that some are saying this is a scam, that it is not necessary. Well, I don't know where they learnt about internet marketing but nothing could be furtherer from the truth. Most IM experts including me, wish they had concentrated more on getting people signed to our newsletters.
4) That affiliates are paid a commission ($75) for every new SBI package sold. Yep it's true - click on one of my links, buy the product and I possibly get a commission.
So what? Most of the internet is built on this business system. Amazon.com was the first to promote it years ago as a business model. It's just like any commissioned salesman - you do the work, you get a commission. Just research 'affiliate marketing' for a while; to see what it's all about.
5) That SBI suggests you use pay per click (PPC) advertising.
SBI talks about PPC, it is part of learning about internet marketing but they don't suggest that it is for everyone. And it is certainly only something for the experienced to test.
6) That SBI is a 'cult'.
LOL - many of the owners of SBI get pretty intense; they really love SBI and don't like it when someone says something bad about SBI. It's a bit weird really, I admit that.
"I often feel that many of them are closed minded and won't consider anything other than what SBI says."
7) That the $300 per year is pretty darn expensive.
Yes/No. Sure you can set up a website for much less than that; my non-SBI sites cost about $70 per year to maintain. But... you still have to set the site up, have it designed, get it ranked in the search engines etc etc.
And unless you know what you are doing, it's going to cost much more than $300.
As I said before...

Summary of this Site Build It Review
It's a brilliant package for the person who wants to learn how to make money online but is not really sure where to start. The guide is A1 and very easy to follow - you won't find better. And the forums are useful besides my note above.
My advice is to just GET IT - the sooner you start the better!
Don't come back in 6 months like Kristie

- Thanks for your great candid review. I thought you would be interested to know there is another website detailing the issues behind the SBI review deluge and might want to let others know, as well. It is an official site that is aptly named the Site Build It Scam site. Thanks!

- I've been using SBI! for about a year. It's a decent enough learning tool for beginners but you soon get tired of the clunky look and feel (which made conversion very difficult for me) and the limited nature of the interface.
I've gone on to develop a blog- inspite of Ken Evoy saying this is a bad idea!
I also paid Site Sell Services to generate key words when I started with SBI! The keywords were very poor and unfortunately I only realised after 9 months of writing content. The support team were not helpful when I pointed this out.
All in all - if you need to learn the basics of SEO the guides are useful - but you can get this for free, it's not rocket science. SBI! has a dated feel about it and a sense of being closed off from everything other than their world.

I do have Wordpress Sites up and running and do know some about HTML, Cpanel, and web design, etc. but need help with ranking and traffic. I now am currently working on learning on how to optimize my own traffic. Anyway keep up the great work online!

- I do not recommend SBI for anyone regardless of whether you know HTML or not, a newbie or not. I pulled my site from them which I paid lots of money to have them build it. It was the worst experience in my life. Not only was the process not explained, I never even talked to the guy that built it but sure got lots of bizarre emails from him. They use templates that are so old and outdated that you'll get laughed off the Internet. Yeah, they get your site traffic for $300 a year but you could have a beautiful optimized site for that and its your own. I've spoken to other SBI owners and unless you have lots of time to spend building it, or patience of the Gods, go elsewhere.

- Just a quick bit of information.
I made the mistake in paying Storesonline $6000 for my website and info and to this day, all I have is a piece of junk that does nothing. Nothing can be worse than them

- I started a website last May as a newbie to the net. I couldn't help but add my comment on this page. If you go to my site - www.pursonalityplus.com - you can tell in a sense that it is a site that doesn't have any fancy gizmos and gadgets like other more experienced sites. I have struggled with SBI for a good period of time even in the begining - but I'm glad I did spend the money on it! I absolutely agree that if you don't have the knowledge of internet web work, this program will get you going to give you the experience in web site design. It will give you a decent site and will hold your hand through it all - but you still can't give up when the "uphills" struggles begin .You will have many of them! I feel much more comfortable a year later but not yet ready to look outside for other web hosting and the other necessities to maintaining a web site. Having three children, work and everything else going on in my life, I can't do it all. If you put the time into your site ( and you have to)- it will look and be great. My site looks great - but it definitely could be better if I had the time for the "bells & whistles". I wish I had the time to learn more and I might consider going outside SBI. But why mess up a good thing when I don't know enough to look elsewhere. At this point I have had to learn some HTML and a lot of other things on the way. I am still acquiring knowledge and learning so much more as I update and develop the site. If you don't know hwat your doing- get SBI (bite the cost)- it's worth it! When you know everything or are web talented/gifted with the ability for web design- just do your homework first. I just renewed with SBI as I still don't want to "take the training wheels off" yet. I'd be glad to answer any questions you have! Just hit the "contact us" button on the site.
Good Luck!
