I currently own the original iPad, and I didn't think the latest features (including the size and speed) of the iPad 2 warranted an upgrade. I actually love my iPad, it's a great tablet.
I was pretty disappointed after demoing a Samsung Tab and the Motorola Xoom, even with the new UI on the Motorola Xoom (Honeycomb), the UI, although extremely customizable, felt rushed and didn't feel as polished as iOS on both iPad and iPad2 (borrowed this and this thing is fast, really thin too).
I'm a HUGE fan of WebOS, being one of the early adopters of the original Palm Pre, I still have mine and it's arguably the best operating system period!
I've had the HP Touchpad (32GB) for a solid 2 weeks now, and while the iPad/iPad2, Samsung, Xoom all offer multi-tasking, the way WebOS handles it is extremely elegant and polished. With other features like "Just Type", Synergy (which synchs all your contacts from the cloud), the awesome mail client, the fast browser that plays FLASH to name a few, the HP Touchpad is really the only worthy competitor to the iPad2. Will the Touchpad beat the iPad2? Honestly, with the iPad's lead, it probably won't. However, if you want to give another OS a chance, the HP Touchpad is, without a doubt a viable choice.
And to all the detractor's of the Touchpad, HP is behind WebOS 110%, their recent corporate restructuring is a testament to their commitment to this platform, they truly want it to succeed. And if you haven't heard the news, the "REAL" launch is July 17th, which should be followed by a marketing blitz worldwide and the best part, the bugs and issues that have been reported (reported quite a few myself which I sent to HP) will eventually be addressed by the HP Touchpad's first OTA (Over The Air) update coming in the next few weeks. Things are finally looking up for WebOS, it's definitely the "little OS that could".
HP has a great chance to be a solid #2 in the current tablet war, so this should be an interesting year for the tech industry.

I bought the TouchPad 12 days ago. I was really impressed that I, a very "non-techie" person, could get the TouchPad up and running almost immediately. The first snag was quickly cleared up using a on-ine chat feature. The charging cord is too short, but that can be lived with. The buttons all blend into the case and, if you are anywhere sight challenged, it is a pain, but that too can be lived with. The real problem came when I had to communicate with my HP 6500 OfficeJet. I got the error message that the system did not support this printer. I could not solve this problem with the on-line chat function and I requested a telephone response, which I received the next day. Anna, the Tech Rep, was very easy to deal with, but she had no answers. Finally after about the 5th call she said that she had done all she could and the case was referred to engineering. She also told me that the system was supposed to support any HP printer less than 5 years old, which my HP 6500 is, and she had found out that there were others complaining about the same problem. I used the HP web site to send an e-mail to the HP CEO and I did get 2 callbacks. Neither of the "Executive Office" representatives were of any help at all. They made it fairly clear that I was really a bother and hoped I would just go away. Well they will get there hope. I will return the TouchPad to the vendor tomorrow and that will be the last HP product I buy.
