RF Detectors Detect Hidden Cameras and Bugs

In addition to laser based hidden camera detectors, RF or Radio Frequency based hidden camera and bug detectors come in all shapes and sizes. Each one covers specific applications and frequencies, and several cover multiple applications and frequencies.

Radio Frequency Hidden Camera Detectors Come In Many Shapes & Sizes

RF Detectors detect and display what radio frequencies are being emitted by a device, by measuring the strength of the signal it gives off. Starting in the center of a room, you slowly spin in a circle to find any signal. Once you find an area that has increased activity, you sweep that part of the room with the device by waving it around known places for bugs and cameras, like you were dusting the room.

When it identifies a device giving off a signal, it shows the strength of that signal to you. As you get closer, the signal gets stronger. They usually use one of three ways to find the bug: 1. A series of lights, 2. a meter, or 3. an LCD panel to display the strength of the signal, so you can zero in on the device and identify its location.

Most hidden cameras operate in the range of 1.2GHz or 2.4GHz, and the new ones operate at 5.8GHz, so there is a range of frequencies you have to check for.

Hidden Bugs usually operate in the Very high frequency range (VHF - 30 MHz to 300 MHz), which includes FM (88-108 MHz) , or Ultra high frequency range (UHF - 300 MHz and 3 GHz).

Many hidden bug or camera detectors can check down to 1Mhz, much lower frequencies than the hidden cameras detect.

There are many choices out there for Hidden Bug Detectors and Hidden Camera detectors, and you can visit our website for more information.
