A little about the Helium Writing Community

To give a bit of basic background information about Helium.com; the website provides writers with a way of earning money from contributing articles in an area of personal expertise. Obviously you don't need to write only about things you know much about, it helps to do so however but with the wealth of information that is available on the Internet these days then writing about anything is always a possibility.

When articles are written and submitted to the site they are put up against others in the given section for rating. Fellow writers on the website are given the job of rating articles, comparing two that are anonymously displayed on screen and giving an opinion of which article they believe to be most useful. It's an interesting rating system and in theory one that is fair for everyone in that articles are anonymously rated and this therefore stops cliques from emerging and friends rating other friends more favourably than they perhaps should.

The great thing about Helium is that your articles will continue to earn you money forever and always. Once you've submitted an article it will continue to earn for you for as long as it remains on the website, the earnings system is unspecified which is a bit irritating - a report is however given on how much your articles have earned in any given month, year, and of course an all time running total is also displayed. Presumably the money system works loosely on how many reads your articles gain, click throughs to adverts etc. - as I say though, you're not told exactly where your earnings come from with your articles.

An article written by News.com in February 2008 suggested that at the time of writing there were roughly 100 000 contributors to the Helium.com website, quite a high figure and one that is presumably always rising.

So without further ado; here are some of the articles that I have written for the Helium website. These articles will not be found elsewhere, they're exclusive to Helium if you will and I intend for them to remain that way.

I've been contributing to Helium for quite a few months now and as time elapses and I continue to write more I shall be adding to the list here; furthering the knowledge base and hopefully making this a more useful resource to utilise.
