Richmond Hill
Favoured by Turner... and Mick Jagger

The Terrace at the top of Richmond Hill looks down into the Thames Valley below, at the most beautiful section, where the river bends round towards Kingston, with Twickenham across the river and some small islands and moored boats in between. The beautiful Richmond Bridge to the right and the gates of Richmond Park just a few hundred yards away. The Terrace extends for several hundred yards, with a wonderful view from it's entire length and many wooden benches to sit on, and maps in front detailing the various points of interest in the view. Mick Jagger's house overlooks The Terrace and the clientele from the beautiful little pub, The Roebuck, empty out onto the Terrace, which makes a perfect place to enjoy a drink.
The Star and Garter Home stand majestically right at the top of the hill next to the entrance of Richmond Park

Richmond Hill: The Best View in London
The Best View in London

The view is the best in London, virtually unspoilt by buildings, with the stately home, Ham house visible, and just a short walk along the tow-path. Parking is difficult on Richmond Hill, where it is mostly restricted to residents, but free parking is available in the park. Traffic on summer weekends is terrible, so coming by train or bus would be far better. It is free to visit the hill and the terrace, and inexpensive food is available nearby, or very expensive beer from the pubs on the hill.

Yes. We do occasionally bump into the local celebrities here, which is quite amusing, especially when they are dressed in normal scruffy clothes and doing normal everyday things like the rest of us. [in reply to Tipi]

- Very nice lens Andy. Richmond Hills looks like a great place to live. Didn't realize so many famous people love it too and live there as well. Do you ever get to see some the celebrities? That would be just too cool!!!
I've been making some new lenses, and right now my Kevin Skinner one is my top lens. Seems people from all over the world are hoping Kevin will win the million dollars in America's Talent. I know I sure am hoping he will win, what a great guy. ~ My next lens is to be about the book I'm going to read next, need to get started on that today.
Good to see your tweet!

Richmond is a suburban town in southwest London, England and part of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It is located west-southwest of Charing Cross and is one of thirty five major centres identified in the London Plan. The formation and naming of the town is due to the building of Richmond Palace in the 16th century and the development of Richmond as a London suburb began with the opening of the railway station in 1846. The civil parish of Richmond became a municipal borough in 1890 and was enlarged in 1933; it has formed part of Greater London since 1965. Located on a meander of the River Thames, Richmond now forms a significant local commercial centre with a number of parks and open spaces and has a developed retail and night time economy.
