Don't be on he emotional Rollercoaster- Rid Bed Bugs now

I am married and have 4 wonderful daughters, no sons, so my world is full of emotion, laughter, fighting, and everything else that goes with girls. I am an office executive and travel a lot with my job. My wife is a stay at home mom and has done a wonderful job on maintaining our household. Our kids are normal, our house shines and what I would call pretty much dirt free. My neighbors all say they could literally eat off our floors.
It all started when my youngest daughter aged six got up one morning with a bit of a rash(about 10 spots). I thought they were hives and we started to think about what had caused them. No more appeared on her body during the day so we thought the worst was over. Then 3 days later she had more (they doubled) and my oldest daughter also had a few spots now. My wife took them to the doctor and they did not know for sure what they were, but could be bug bites. Ok that was fine.I could live with the kids getting bit by bugs, it happens all the time. I thought I would have to see where the probable mosquitoes were getting in. But things got worse, much worse.
They kept getting more bites, and the poor girls were severely itchy and were taking antihistamines to try to keep the swelling and itch down. Then my wife was stripping the bed of our youngest and I hear a fear stricken yell. I went and saw that under the pillow top of the mattress was 4 tiny little crawling bugs. I got a jar and put them in there to have a better look at them. I had a magnifying glass and to me they looked a lot like what a tick looked like. I took them to the computer and started trying to identify these very ugly bugs.
I found out that they were bed bugs, oh now what to do to rid bed bugs from our home.

The girls were cranky from not wanting to sleep and these bloodsucking creatures were disrupting our lives. I had to find answers so I started to do research online.
I found them to be bed bugs and both my wife and myself was devastated. How could we have bed bugs, we are very clean people. It put us into emotional turmoil. Five women living with bed bugs is not pleasant. There is added stress, lack of sleep, itchiness, fear, and the stigma associated to the dreaded bed bug. Nasty!
But facts were facts and I had to figure out how to rid bed bugs from our house. I purchased a few book to educate myself on these bugs. I must say that there is some garbage out there. I found one website that started out asking this question? Are you planning on getting bed bugs soon or in the near future? If so, pay attention! Who in their right mind would plan such a thing, I did not buy this book.
The best information I found was in Pete Brennan's book "Rid Bed Bugs Now". He gave me so much information on what to do to get rid of bed bugs that I felt much better. I followed his steps, did everything that it said and now we live bed bug free. Thank goodness.

Bed bugs likely started to eat man at about the time we moved into caves, the 'bat bugs' Cimex pilosellus and Cimex pipistrella essentially eat bats and it is possible that bat feeding species of bug developed to dine on our blood when early man started living in bat infested caves.
Until the arrival of DDT in the early twentieth century bed bugs were common non-paying guests in most poor quality housing. The later part of the 20 th century saw pest control companies dealing with very few bed bug infestations indeed, their presence being largely confined to cheap holiday camps and student accommodation etc.

Many people confuse dust mites, which are not visible to the naked eye, with bed bugs which certainly are. Adult bedbugs are reddish-brown, about a quarter of an inch In size and quite swollen after feeding on human blood.
They have an unfinished metamorphosis which means that the the young are just smaller versions of the adult, they don't have a pupal stage like a flea or a fly. Bed bugs typically eat human blood every 5 - ten days, most often these nasty little critters come out just before dawn and sensing their prey by detecting the breathed out CO2 from breathing and when nearing in on their target, body heat.
In the absence of a convenient person to eat they can stay asleep for lengthy times of up to eighteen months. Appearances of a bed bug infestation are spots of blood on bedding and on the bottom of mattresses and some people can react badly to their bites.
The beginning of the 21st century has seen the bed bug infestation numbers swell around the world, the cheap availability of global travel and industrial migration have both been blamed for the renewal. What's certain is that that are now making a major comeback and not localizing in poor quality homes but high class hostels, colleges and even hospices.
