Let your skin breathe. Feed it the right food.

Doesn't it make sense that what we feed our bodies will have a knock-on effect as to how healthy our skin will look? What we eat will also effect our well being. It is so important to look after our inner self to make our outer self healthy and beautiful. Eating the right foods is essential for healthy functioning of our organs and our general good health.

Healthy Eating, Healthy Skin.

How eating the right foods can improve our skin -

Can eating the right foods improve our skin? It makes perfect sense, doesn't it? What we put inside our bodies as food and nourishment, will reveal it's worth and benefits on the outside. The outside being, our skin. Skin tells tales, and it will tell your whole life history at a glance. -

If you have been a heavy smoker throughout your life this will show in your face. The delicate skin will appear thicker and rougher. It will also have aged well beyond it's years, and lines will have formed around the mouth, and upper lip from the action of smoking. Similarly with our bodies, whatever we eat will reveal itself on our outer skin.

Our bodies need vitamins derived from the food we choose to eat. We also need carbohydrate, vitamins, and minerals. Think of the body as a finely tuned engine. It needs oiling, watering, washing, and an MOT given every so often. The more we look after the car, the less it will need attending to. The same goes for us, take care of our bodies, be mindful of our food quality and intake, and when we go for our annual check-up hopefully all will be well.-

If we feed our bodies with empty food, and by that I mean food with no goodness, or substance. We will not be deriving any benefit from it. In fact the lack of nutrients will show with shocking reality upon our skin. Skin that is not fed properly will look dulled and lifeless. It is only by feeding it with the properties that it needs, that it will begin to glow and radiate health.-

So what should we be eating for maximum health?, and what foods exactly can actually 'improve' our skin?

-SALMON-

I am putting salmon at the top of my list. Salmon contains potasium, protein, B12 and omega-3. This is a fatty acid, and it is known for it's amazing benefits for keeping the skin healthy. Omega 3s allows nutrients to go into the cells and leave with the unnecessary waste. They also protect the skin by subduing inflammatory properties that cause the skin problems. An increased intake of omega 3s such as contained within the salmon will maintains the skins youthfulness and elasticity.

-CARROTS-
Carrots are an amazing vegetable. They contain vitamin A. They also contain vitamins K, C and B6, thiamine, biotin, and potassium . They are full crammed of goodness, have a high source of fiber, and are rich in antioxidants, which protects the skins cells. When skin cells are protected from damage the skin will look younger for longer.Carrots are great to eat raw, as a snack, and particularly useful to nibble on when dieting, being both satisfying and full of natural flavor.

-GREEN VEGETABLES-
Green vegetables such as kale, broccoli, courgettes, and spinach, are delicious. and all being high in vitamin A. Asparagus is also a wonderful vegetable, it is extremely low in calorie content, is a very good source of folic acid, and contains no cholesterol or fat. It is also a good source of potassium, amino acid, and dietary fiber.

-NUTS-
Vitamin E does wonders for the skins health, and this can be obtained from nuts. Almonds and hazelnuts are high in vitamin E. Nuts are very good for you, and very beneficial to the skin. Macadamia nuts contain no cholesterol, and they are known to reduce the rate of heart disease and lower blood cholesterol levels. Nuts contain fatty acids which are vital for the health of hair and skin.

-SEEDS-
Sesame seeds are packed full of goodness, as are sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and flaxseeds. They are extremely advantageous to the health of your skin. Not only are they full of nutrients but they also contain selenium, which is an active agent against cancer protection. They also contain magnesium, which wards off migraine and asthma, and helps to lessen the chance of stroke and heart attack.

-FRUITS-
Blueberries are 'so' good for you, they have the highest level of anti-oxidant of any fruit, and many other health contributors too. They are also known for their anti-aging properties. Eat lots of citrus fruits for your vitamin C intake. Bananas contain three natural sugars, sucrose, fructose and glucose, and they will give you the quickest energy rush of any fruit. They also contain fiber, vitaminB6, and they are high in iron.

Don't forget! Drink plenty of water, about eight tumblers a day. Water plays a vital part in skincare, and rehydration, and is essential to the health of our skin. It pushes the toxins out of the body leaving the skin looking fresher and healthier.

So these are just a few recommendations for food intake that will help to improve your skins radiance, to also keep it in prime condition, and to maintain it's youthful, fresh appearance. Your skin is an outward image that portrays who you are, and how you have looked after yourself, and no amount of expensive skin cream can replace a healthy diet. So eat well, safe in the knowledge that you are doing everything that you can, to take care of the skin that you are in.-
