Position Filled!
We've hired our intern for Summer 2008. Thanks for your interest!...
See more details below...
The Top Three Reasons to Apply
1. You'll learn a ton.
2. You'll get paid.
3. It's meaningful work that makes a difference.
What You'll Do
In addition to learning the general ropes of hosting and guiding change, our intern will be given real projects to work on that will become our product-programs for small rural communities. The intern will receive mentoring and direction from the RLC team, network with leaders and practitioners in the rural community development system and learn about rural community capacity building from the experts. We're a small organization, so our intern will see and take part in everything that goes into our work.
As a special project for the summer, our intern will work closely with RLC staff and partners, under the supervision of the RLC Executive Director, to develop a framework to deliver the "Rural Housing Development Training Camp" program, and accompanying 'playbook.' The intern will also work with RLC staff to develop a prototype 'learning network' structure that will connect communities and rural development practitioners across the region.
Who Can Play?
Our intern will be enrolled full-time in post-secondary or graduate school and be planning to return to school in the fall of 2008. Applicant should have a heartfelt interest in working with rural communities in a professional capacity, as well as a strong interest in social change strategies and processes. Experience with research and documentation methods and/or graphic design will be a plus, but not required. Applicant will be expected to work full time through the summer months in a flexible schedule. Some travel will be required.
I'm Interested!
We need to fill this position by May 15, 2008.
To apply, send an email to Joe Bartmann telling me why you are 'the one.' Be sure to include your contact info. Reach me at joe DOT bartmann AT rlcenter DOT net. Good luck!
