This is a great lens on an important topic. In fact, I just found it after launching my own related lens on litter, the Piece-a-Day Anti-LItter Revolution, not more than five minutes ago: http://www.squidoo.com/pieceaday. I hope we can work together!

Hey, thanks for seeing my tweet and directing me to your page. I sure wish I would have or could have kept all the aluminum cans that we picked up and brought them home to cash in!! If we go with them again I will be sure to ask if I can do just that. We did a 2 mile stretch of highway and filled around 30 bags.

This is a great thing to do as a volunteer! I often read the signs that say who or what group has adopted a stretch of road and I really do appreciate the hard work. It's a never-ending task, and if it weren't for people like you, our roadways would be lined with berms of garbage. Thank you! And a wonderful lens.

You earned 5 stars for both of your lenses... and they were added to my favorites list. I was a Boyscout and was raised with the same ideals that you were. Being 32 now, I find that so many young people lack the respect for their environment that I was taught. I pick up garbage for others all the time... but wish that more people would engage themselves. I'll have to check to see if there is an EnviroCorps group in Edwardsville, IL! Perhaps I'll start one...

My wife and I took a trip Mexico a few years back and were shocked to see road litter every where except in the resort areas. When we returned home it became apparent that some of our local roads were also getting quite trashed. I have been working to find ways to combat the road trash ever since. Thanks for the post on http://www.squidoo.com/road-litter.

we live in a wooded area, lots of hunters gather here every fall... and so does every one who does not want to pay to dump their garbage! After a few years it became a place where people just dumped all there fridges, stoves, washers, ect. It started to look like a junk yard. One day me & and dad got his truck and we just started loading everything up and taking it all to the dump. It took us all summer, doing one truck load a day, every day, but we finally got the grounds cleaned up. One of the last days, the owner of the land came up & said he wanted to see who they folks were that were cleaning his land for him. He said he'd tried for years to find help, but no one wanted to do it, & he was so glad that we had just come in and taken the junk off his land for him, without being asked. When we got done, he blocked off the road to the woods, so now no one can dump stuff there anymore. I really hate that people think they can litter like that. This is a great lens btw.
