Extra Fun kids' Book- The Twits

Ranked #1,796 in Books, Poetry & Writing, #76,418 overall

My Review of "The Twits," by Roald Dahl:

Mr and Mrs. Twit are perfect for each other. Perfectly nasty, mean, silly, and horrible. Over and over, they play terrible tricks on each other involving worms, balloons, glue, monkeys, and all sorts of yucky stuff. What a fantabulous read aloud book this is, for kids 7 and up, and even for adults. I read this hilariously naughty children's book to my 82 year old mama over the phone, and she laughed so hard, she started crying. I read it aloud to a group of my fifth and sixth graders, and they groaned and begged me for more when it was time to stop reading. Of course, Quentin Blake's illustrations add to the romp as with many Roald Dahl books. The Twits may be just the catalyst needed to get a reluctant reader interested in books.

The best line ever from "The Twits," by Roald Dahl:

"A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely."

Dahl writes the stuff my nightmares were made of.... maybe that's the sign of a great writer, that he was able to strike me so strongly.

I really enjoyed the quote on sticky out teeth and sunshine beaming out of your face - it is just oh so true and so very wonderfully written. Roald Dahl's book on the Twits sounds like a must read for many folks both young and old.

Great review. I think I have to add it to my reading list.

The only thing I knew about him was that he was an English writer married to Patricia O'Neal, I think.

That sounds like a good book for helping kids who don't like to read too much.
