Roath House Surgery Opening Times
We're open Monday to Friday at the times shown below.Monday 8.30a.m - 12.30p.m and 2p.m. - 6p.m.
Tuesday 8.30a.m - 12.30p.m and 2p.m. - 6p.m.
Wednesday 8.30a.m - 12 Noon (Closed in afternoon)
Thursday 8.30a.m - 12.30p.m and 2p.m. - 6p.m.
Friday 8.30a.m - 12.30p.m and 2p.m. - 6p.m.
N.B: We're closed on Wednesday afternoon, as well as on the weekend. If you need medical care when the surgery is closed, please call 02920461100 and a member of the out-of-hours team will be able to help you.
How Do I Make An Appointment?
Booking An Appointment At Roath House Surgery
We're currently operating an "Advanced Access Appointment System", where the goal is to get you seen by a Health Professional within 24 hours of your request.
To use this system, simple call Roath House Surgery on 02920461100 before 8.30a.m. on the day you wish to be seen. You can then ask to be seen by anyone of our fine selection of doctors.
However, if the doctor you've requested is already fully booked for the day, we can still offer you an appointment, it just might have to be with the next available doctor.
Pre-Booked Appointments
You can also Pre-booked appointments up to 2 weeks in advance to be seen by a doctor of your choice. The time-slots you can pre-book are for the first 3 and last 3 appointments of the day.
How Long Will My Appointment Be?
Patients requiring chronic disease management yearly reviews, childhood immunisations, ECG, cytology, and other more specialised procedures will be offered a double or triple appointment, booked in advance.
I'd Like To Register With You. How Do I Do That?
How To Register With Roath House Surgery
When you come into the Practice, you will need to complete some registration forms and will be asked to make an appointment with the practice nurse for a simple health check.
If you've got an NHS medical card, please bring this with you when you come in to register with us.
What If I Can't Make It Into The Surgery?
However if you can't then please don't hesitate to ask for either or both because they're there to be used.
You can request these by calling the Surgery on 02920461100 BETWEEN 9a.m. and 10.30a.m.
What If I Want To Find Out My Test Results?
After 11a.m., you can talk to a member of staff on reception who will give you your results as well as the course of action outlined by the doctor.
And Repeat Prescriptions?
1)Bringing in a written notice to reception 2 working days before you require it.
2)Posting your request, enclosing a stamped addressed envelope.
3)Online: you can register for this service by going to www.repeatprescriptionsystem.com
Please do not request repeat prescriptions over the telephone as we would like to avoid any error in filling out your prescription, as well as to keep the lines free for urgent calls.

Reception Staff
There are 8 receptionists employed at the practice. Please remember emergencies fo occur and have to be dealt with accordingly. It may be you who needs the extra service. Please remember the receptionists are only carrying out the doctors' instructions.
Practice Nurses Our Practice Nurses are Jenny Dawkins RGN and Sister Lynda Hamptom RGN. Either or both of them will be available during surgery hours to help with general health screening examinations, smear tests, vaccinations, travel advice, pill checks, and other GP referrals.
Attached Staff
Mrs. Lisa Wynee-Owen is based at the practice (direct line: 02920457084). She provides specialist help in the field of child growth and development.
District Nurse
Sister Janet Crutcher SRN Dip. in Community Studies and her team are based at the practice and visit patients in their homes at the request of the doctor or hospital staff.
Community Midwife
The community midwife operates an antenatal clinic at the Surgery on a Thursday afternoon. She also visits patients at home where appropriate.
Phlebotomist
A phlebotomist is available for blood tests on request by the doctor on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 8.30a.m and 10.15a.m.
A Counsellor is available at the practice by referral only.
Zero Tolerance Policy
We have an absolute zero tolerance for physical or verbal abuse levied towards our staff. If you want to stay as part of the exclusive family community here at Roath House Surgery community, you've got to abide by the House Rules.You can get a copy of these by asking-nicely!- at reception.
We're a Training Practice.
However, more than just being a medical practice, we're also training practice. Which means that we help supervise the training of qualified Registrar doctors choosing to specialise in General Practice Medicine.
Our Iron-clad Confidentiality Policy
And as part of this care, we are operate under an iron-clad policy of confidentiality. Information kept on computers is supposed to be safe, but we take extra measures to ensure that this is so.
We're also registered under the Data Protection Act.
