Professional Murals and Portraits by Robert Howell
Hi. Thank you for visiting my lens. I am new to social networking - but experienced with artwork so I am writing about my passion to include bits about my work and even to follow up with some of my off-the-wall thoughts. First and most importantly - I am a single Christian Dad and enjoy raising my girls with values and morals. Next to that I am very passionate about transforming a blank wall or canvas into something exciting, warm and unique. My friends are never surprised to walk in my home and find the kitchen taken over by mountain lion landscapes or heroic Cavalry Soldiers drawn on the garage wall - swords drawn and ready to fight. In addition to artwork I also enjoy motivational speaking and speak to groups (mostly college students right now) about empowering ways for the them to view life and great techniques for developing positive attitudes. I am a veteran and live just outside of Fort Hood so I highly value the military and specialize in military murals and portraits.
Wall Murals
I started painting wall murals when I was a teenager. Fortunately my mom and dad let me draw on the walls. My first wall adventure included several prominent Star Wars characters and then I moved up to Indiana Jones. Fast Forward to today I have painted several popular and large scale murals such as the train at Scott & White in the Temple Children's Hospital and the CAV March at the Wal-Mart in Copperas Cove, Texas. Military Murals
I completed my first mural for the military back in 1992 in Bindlach Germany. For a complete story on that visit my blog at uniquetxmurals.com. These murals are great for dayrooms, gyms, anywhere that could motivate the troops.
Military Portraits
Portraits for Soldiers
Often when I complete a portrait and submit it to my client I am enthralled by the joyful tears that soon follow. It is amazing to me how a portrait can have this effect on people. My latest portrait is actually more of a scene. A wife at Fort Hood, Texas requested that I paint her husband (currently in Iraq) on horseback and in CAV uniform. The two men in the portrait flanking his left and right are his brothers. The portrait was a great challenge and an astute idea by my client. Military PCS Awards and Gifts
When soldiers leave their current post and go to another assignment, retire, or receive a promotion they are often given a gift by their unit. In most cases the gift is a plaque and they usually find themselves overrun by dozens of these gifts that all look the same. The soldier is very surprised if instead - receives a one-of-a-kind hand drawn portrait of himself (often based on a photo he sent home and forgot about). Murals for the Home
Working on a room to customize and transform the look for the homeowner is very rewarding. This New York scene was painted for a lady living in Killeen, Texas who wanted to feel closer to home. Now, she can always feel close to home and she has told me that the mural makes starting conversations with new guest extremely easy. Amazon
Inspiring Wall Murals
Ideas are the beginning points of all fortunes. -Napoleon HillWell, do you ever get angry watching the news? I do. Do you ever have a day in which you could just use something positive? I definitely do. I strongly believe that adding something positive to your home can have a huge impact to your mood all day long. I have a dream wall in my room that has brought me great success and I highly recommend one to anyone who would enjoy bringing a bit of power into their life.
Inspiring speeches
In addition to my artwork I love to speak in front of groups. I first read "Think and Grow Rich" several years ago and my thoughts will never be the same. I have learned much and often speak to bring new empowering ways of looking at things to interested college students and employees.
Inspiring books that can improve your life...
Now for the eccentric stuff...
Being an artist I really do think that I see things differently. I am terrified of water towers (thanks to that darn War of the Worlds movie with Tom Cruise), I see the human body from an artistic viewpoint only (okay that may be stretching the truth a bit) and I really do believe in miracles.
