Robert Browning lived in the 1800's. His inspirational quotes are still being written about and spoken. Listed here are some of these inspirational quotes along with inspirational quotes of other famous authors.

Robert Browning wrote his famous poem, The Pied Piper of Hamelin, which is still read today. We remember the story from our childhood where the pied piper's music led the children of the town to a mountain, the side of which opened, and the children were not heard from again.

There are different versions of the story throughout the world and many different theories about the origin of The Pied Piper of Hamelin. One theory is that because of the offering of land for settlement in various parts of Europe in the 1200's, many people moved out of their native towns. The groups of people leaving may have been referred to as "the children of the town."

Robert Browning, an English poet, was born in 1812. He was raised in a household of significant literary resources. His father amassed a library of nearly 6,000 books and his mother was an extremely talented musician. He became well-known as a writer in mid life when he published the two-volume, Men and Women. His greatest contribution was The Ring and the Book, a dramatic monologue published in l869. (free download here)

The Pied Piper of Hamelin

Robert Browning's poem, The Pied Piper of Hamelin is one we remember
from our childhood. It is a story of a town named Hamelin which had
become infested with rats. A piper appeared in town and offered to play
his pipe and lead the rats out of town to the river.

The town officials agreed to pay the pied piper (pied referring to the color areas of the clothing worn by entertainers at that time)for his services but after the rats were removed, they refused payment. Some time later, because the town people did not keep their promise, the piper returned to the town and played his pipe again, this time leading the 130 children of the town to a mountain, the side of which opened, the children entered, and the opening closed behind them.

Robert Browning Inspirational Quotes

God's in His Heaven: All's right with the world.

God made all the creatures, and gave them our love and our fear,
To give sign we and they are his children, one family here.

A minute's sucess pays the failure of years

Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp. Or what's a Heaven for?

I count life just a stuff to try the soul's strength on.

God is the perfect poet. Who in his person acts his own creations.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing

Good to forgive. Best to forget.

I see my way as birds their trackless way.
I shall arrive,-what time, what circuit first,
I ask not; but unless God send his hail
Or blinding fire-balls, sleet or stifling snow,
In some time, his good time, I shall arrive:
He guides me and the bird. In his good time.

Inspirational Quotes - Henry David Thoreau

As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.

I have learned that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.

Never look back unless you are planning to go that way

It is what a man thinks of himself that really determines his fate.

In the long run, men hit only what they aim at. Therefore, they had better aim at
something high

Inspirational Quotes - Abraham Lincoln

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any
one thing.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done today.

We can complain that rose bushes have thorns. Or we can rejoice that thorn bushes
have roses.

Inspirational Quotes - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Nothing can bring you peace but yourself

A man is what he thinks about all day long.

Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.
