Roberto Cavalli, born in Italy in 1940, was part of a very artistic family. As a result, he went to the Institute of Art in Florence.
His first steps in the direction of fashion was when he chose to specialize in the textile application of paint. From his mind sprung his first creation, and his first success: floral motifs on knitwear. He immediately had the attention of the big Italian fashion companies.


Currently, Cavalli has been contracted to design new Coca Cola bottles, shifting from bespoke clothing for H&M for example, to much more than clothing alone.

Luxury and abundance, silk clothes, leather, wool, Roberto Cavalli has tried it all and his designs are always a treat for the eye.

The first collection

Sexy Cavalli dress with flower printCavalli made his first collection at the age of 30 at the Salon for Prêt-à-Porter.
The official presentation of the collection was quickly followed by a fashion show with catwalk in Milan.
On the catwalk, Cavalli florished in style and flair. His revolutionary printing procedure made it possible to have prints on leather and denim.

His trademark was born, very obvious prints of various things like animals and flowers.

In the seventies, Cavalli made his first big steps into the fashion world. In 1972 he opened his first boutique.
What started out as a small fashion line turned to a popular trend.
One of the first stars appreciating the vivid creations was Brigitte Bardot (she even stunted by walking in them barefooted).
Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys all use Cavalli designs for touring.
Things aren't always sunshine though. Cavalli once used real fur in one of the designs for Christina Aguilera. She's against real fur, and was really upset.

The world of Cavalli expands

In 1994 Cavalli made a jeans collection, also a big hit.
He opened a new boutique in Saint Barth in the French Caribbean, in Venice and in Saint Tropez.
The collections followed each other quickly, Just Cavalli in 1998, RC Menswear, Angels and Devils, Class, Freedom, 2 underwear collections, one beachwear, shoes, eyewear, watches, perfumes and an interior design line. Roberto Cavallie now features anything from dresses to lingerie.
