Robin D. Owens is one of those authors I discovered by accident.

I tend to wander around in the Science Fiction area of Barnes and Noble and during one of those trips, "Sorceress of Faith" caught my eye.  Once something catches my eye, and the blurb on the back catches my attention I must buy!  I purchased the first two books, "Guardian of Honor" and "Sorceress of Faith" of the Summoning series, and just finished reading them when "Protector of the Flight" was released.  So I purchased "Keepers of the Flame" as soon as it was released, and I'm watching for the 5th book to come in the mail in January 2009!

The Summoning series involves a world called Lladrana where the magicians/priests of the world are able to summon people from Earth, and transport them into Lladrana.  Their world is in danger from a dark and evil force, and they are sure that their only hope is to bring heroes from Earth.  However, instead of great warriors, they've over the first 4 books of the series brought an interesting mixture of women.

Guardians of Honor:  Alexa Fitzwalter, an attorney from Colorado

Sorceress of Faith:  Marian Harasta, professional student, amateur sorceress from Colorado

Protector of the Flight:  Calli Torcher, a crippled, self-doubting ex-rodeo rider and horse trainer from Colorado (do you a sense a theme here?)

Keepers of the Flame:  Brigid and Elizabeth Drystan, twins with the power to heal - do you think they're from Colorado too?

Echoes In The Dark: COMING JANUARY 2009 - Jikata

The Heartmates series is just as wonderful!

Her birthday is November 8th.

The finale "Echoes of the Dark" is coming in January 2009!!

Uncertain of her future, unaware of her extraordinary magical talent, Jikata will be the sixth and final outsider - Exotique - to step through a dangerous portal of prophecy and magic. Survival will require her to forge closer friendships than she has ever known. The price of those bonds will threaten the very fate of Lladrana: a world where mucic holds the key to an ancient mystery - and six women will wage the ultimate battled against the forces of Dark."

Having started reading the series I am engrossed in the stories of love, romance, and overcoming all obstacles that keep you from the one you are destined to be with. I'm sure this 7th installment will be as enchanting as the first six.

I have enjoyed the heartmate series, however, I was very disappointed in Tinne's story. The author Robin Owens spent more than half the store on Tinne getting divorce and getting over his feelings of failure with Genista and the resulting scandal it will bring to the Holly's as his ' HeartMate, Lahsin is forced to find sanctuary in First Grove, while Lahsin has to forge for food and shelter in First Grove. The author goes on and on about Tinne's pain as a result of the divorce even though the author tells us Lahsin is running away from her husband whom has raped and emotionally abused her for 4 years Tinne is more focused on his failure than Lahsin pain and abuse. The authors does mention the lose of his child with Genista which is tragic, but divorce seems to be the plot of the romance, which does not make it a romance to me but a self help book. I would have liked to know more about Lahsin,(and less about Genista) and her pain and how she will over come her feelings and hurt as a result of her abusive husband. I was also frustrated with the author focusing on how Tinne lost weight, as food is readily available to him when it took Lahsin several days to get food out of the no time in the BalmHeals residence. When the author finally gets around to Tinne and Lahsin as a couple, Tinne can only spare a few hours a day for her and only to teacher her self-defense. After each session they bath at opposite ends of the Healing pool, which is something, I feel a 17 girl/woman would not do after 4 years of repeated rape. Also Tinne shows less emotion for Lahsin than his divorce, only during the last 20 pages or so of the book does Tinne seem to have any love for Lahsin. Anyone whom loved Tinne's character as I did in Heart Dance will dislike Tinne in Heart Fate, as I do now. Again I have enjoyed the Heart Mate series but I wished I had skipped Heart Fate.
