The Great Man Robinho
Robinho (birth name Robson de Souza) is a Brazilian footballer who currently plays his club football with Manchester City in the UK. Having gained over 50 caps for his country; Robinho is an absolutely excellent footballer and a fine striker of the ball also. Robinho has a great goals record; he scores a lot of goals for his clubs and also for his national side. Robinho actually scored on his debut at Manchester City, kicking in an absolutely brilliant free-kick against Chelsea on the 13th of September 2008 and instantly making his mark in Manchester. Manchester City is just his third club and since joining for a British record £32.5 million, Robinho has really made a name for himself in England. It was expected that Robinho would sign for Chelsea; he didn't however, and what better way to show Chelsea what they're missing than to score a goal against them on your debut.Robinho's career actually started at the Brazilian side of Santos, he signed a professional contact with the side at the age of eighteen and made 104 league appearances for the club before moving on in 2005. In his 104 appearances, Robinho actually scored 44 goals for Santos; a great record that led to European interest in the player and actually resulted in him signing for Real Madrid for a fee of 24 million euros. Robinho went on to make 101 league appearances for Real Madrid, he scored 25 goals for the Spanish side before moving on in summer 2008 and always posed a great threat up front for Madrid. Robinho left Madrid amidst great controversy, ridiculed for his move to Manchester City by both Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon and Brazilian footballing legend Pele also. Robinho wanted out and he got out in a record breaking move to Britain; right up until transfer deadline day it looked as though Robinho would be heading for Chelsea, he ended up signing for Manchester City however and Chelsea's loss was most definitely City's gain.
Robinho has had a great footballing history, signing for Manchester City is an exciting new age in his career and may he have many happy seasons at the City of Manchester stadium. Robinho wears the number 10 shirt for his club, the number 11 shirt for his country; and for both club and country, Robinho most definitely does his shirt proud.
