Leonardo Da Vinci's Robot

Did you know that Leonardo Da Vinci designed a humanoid automaton when he was only 12 years old?

The design notes were discovered in sketchbooks in the 1950s. The "robot" was displayed by Leonardo in 1495 at a party in the court of Milan. The robot could operate through a system of pulleys and cables that controlled simple motions such as standing, sitting, and moving it's arms.

As pictured on the model displayed in Berlin here, the "robot" is a knight-like warrior in medieval armor.
