How to Build Radio Controlled Robot Beetles!

Have you ever wanted to build a robot but don't know anything about electronics, or are you an experienced hobbyist looking for a quick project?

If you fit either description then read on to find out how to build a radio control walking robot that is easy to make, fun to use and does not cost a fortune.

A Simple Design.

type=textI have been building and experimenting with robots for a few years but I have never been able to afford some of the high tech walking robot kits that are available now. So I set out to design a robot that did not need a microprocessor or a lot of components.

I finally came up with a design that is so simple all you need is a two channel radio control set, three servos and some plywood to make the legs and body with.

Your In Control.

type=textIf no additional electronics are used apart from the radio control, how do the beetles walk?
The answer is that you make them walk by moving the control sticks in an easy to learn sequence.

You can make them walk forward, backward and turn left and right just by moving the control sticks on the transmitter in the right pattern.
It's easy to learn the sequences and with practise you can make your beetles move pretty quick.

Step by Step Instructions.

type=textI've put together an E-Book that has step by step instructions and photos on How to Build a Radio Controlled Robot Beetle.
It has plans for two beetles and all the information you need to build them and make them walk.

The E-Book does not cost much and is available Here as a downloadable PDF file.

You will need a two channel radio control set and three servos as well as a few other low cost items from a decent hobby store to complete the beetle but the parts list is pretty small.

Have Fun.

Hello world. I enjoy building models, electronics, computers and watching "The Big Bang" with my son.
But I'm not really a geek (?).
