Rob Van Dam declined to re-sign with WWE
Rob Van Dam received a concussion during a match with Randy Orton. Orton further attacked Van Dam after the match due to the comments Van Dam made on WWE.com about the lack of respect Orton displayed towards Shawn Michaels, who also suffered a concussion (kayfabe) at the hands of Orton. Van Dam once again faced Orton at One Night Stand, this time being a Stretcher Match. Although it looked as if Orton was going to win again, Van Dam gave a kick to his head, and was able to push the stretcher across the line for the win. However, despite winning the match, Orton continued to attack him, ending with a Elevated DDT off the barricade and onto the concrete floor. This would be Van Dam's last match. Van Dam's contract ran out as of the 8th of July 2007, and he declined to re-sign with WWE. On September 5, 2007 his profile was removed from WWE.com Rob Van Dam Entrance

In fact, at one time, Rob Van Dam was a co-holder of the ECW World Tag Team Championship and The ECW World Television Champion simultaneously. RVD held the ECW World Television Championship for a record-breaking 23 months and his championship reign was ended only because Rob Van Dam broke his ankle and was forced to relinquish the championship. long reign which ended only when RVD broke his ankle and was forced the relinquish the championship.

On the world premier of ECW on SciFi on June 13, 2006, ECW Representative, Paul Heyman finally awarded Rob Van Dam with the ECW World Heavyweight Championship belt that had eluded RVD for over ten years. Rather than throwing down the WWE Championship, RVD chose to wear both belts because the ECW World Heavyweight Championship is the greatest achievement in his career, and WWE Championship belt amuses him because "it spins."
