Rob Van Dam declined to re-sign with WWE

Rob Van Dam received a concussion during a match with Randy Orton. Orton further attacked Van Dam after the match due to the comments Van Dam made on WWE.com about the lack of respect Orton displayed towards Shawn Michaels, who also suffered a concussion (kayfabe) at the hands of Orton. Van Dam once again faced Orton at One Night Stand, this time being a Stretcher Match. Although it looked as if Orton was going to win again, Van Dam gave a kick to his head, and was able to push the stretcher across the line for the win. However, despite winning the match, Orton continued to attack him, ending with a Elevated DDT off the barricade and onto the concrete floor. This would be Van Dam's last match. Van Dam's contract ran out as of the 8th of July 2007, and he declined to re-sign with WWE. On September 5, 2007 his profile was removed from WWE.com

Rob Van Dam Bio (1/3)

Arguably the most uniquely gifted athlete ever to compete in professional wrestling, Rob Van Dam can do things that no other wrestler can do, has done or ever will do. RVD is also known as "The Whole F'n Show," because ECW fans feel seeing RVD wrestle is alone worth the price of the ticket. Rob Van Dam's one of a kind offensive arsenal includes Rolling Thunder, The Van Daminator and the mind-blowing Van Terminator.

Distinguishing himself from other wrestlers by exhibiting his martial arts skills and uncanny flexibility, RVD first gained fame inside the squared circle of ECW. Rob Van Dam and Sabu were both trained by Sabu's uncle, The Sheik and had a tenuous relationship that resulted in epic extreme battle with one another and two ECW World Tag Team Championship reigns. In fact, at one time, Rob Van Dam was a co-holder of the ECW World Tag Team Championship and The ECW World Television Champion simultaneously. RVD held the ECW World Television Championship for a record-breaking 23 months and his championship reign was ended only because Rob Van Dam broke his ankle and was forced to relinquish the championship. long reign which ended only when RVD broke his ankle and was forced the relinquish the championship.

Since signing with WWE in July 2001, Rob Van Dam has been equally impressive, racking up 2 World Tag Team Championships, a WWE Tag Team Championship, and 6 WWE Intercontinental Championships which saw RVD unify the Intercontinental Championship with the WWE Hardcore Championship and WWE European Championships before retiring both of those titles.

As successful as Rob Van Dam had been, he entered WrestleMania 22 still known as the greatest wrestler never to have held a World Heavyweight Championship. However, RVD won the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 22 for the right to challenge the WWE Champion. RVD then cashed in his championship match at ECW One Night Stand on June 11, 2006 and defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship in an Extreme Rules match. Rob Van Dam vowed to re-christen the title as the ECW World Heavyweight Championship.

On the world premier of ECW on SciFi on June 13, 2006, ECW Representative, Paul Heyman finally awarded Rob Van Dam with the ECW World Heavyweight Championship belt that had eluded RVD for over ten years. Rather than throwing down the WWE Championship, RVD chose to wear both belts because the ECW World Heavyweight Championship is the greatest achievement in his career, and WWE Championship belt amuses him because "it spins."

How did Rob Van Dam Won the ECW Championship & WWE Championship?

June 13, 2006

John Cena was unable to overcome the ECW environment at One Night Stand. With the crowd firmly against him, Cena was sent through a table by Edge. An opportunistic Rob Van Dam followed that up with a Five-Star Frog Splash. RVD then went for the cover and Paul Heyman counted to three. With that, a new WWE Champion was crowned

At ECW One Night Stand, Rob Van Dam defeated John Cena to win the WWE Championship. Prior to the match, RVD said he would rechristen it as the ECW World Championship if he won; however, on the debut of ECW on Sci Fi on June 13, Paul Heyman simply awarded him the ECW Championship to make Rob a double champion. As such, this is recognized as the official re-activation of the ECW World Championship.
