Why learn a foreign language?
Americans in particular are coming out of the shell in terms of learning foreign languages. Americans used to be (and to a degree, still are) infamous for closing themselves in their own shell, not caring and not wanting to know about anything that is outside their borders.
But that is changing fast. More and more Americans do business with international counterparts, and more and more Americans want to travel the world and see other countries, other people, and other cultures. And with that comes the increasing desire to learn another language.
Here's why you should learn a second language:
- More and more great careers and job opportunities view knowing languages as a serious advantage, or even a requirement - particularly when dealing with international counterparts. The more languages you know, the more choice you have in the job market, and the bigger your chance is for promotion and jobs with higher pay.
- Knowing another language can save you time, money, and frustration when traveling abroad.
- Knowing another language makes you understand the culture of the speakers of that language more deeply, and greatly enhace your experience when meeting them or visiting their country.
- Another language can be very helpful a your social life as well.
- knowing more languages improves communication skills, even in your native language.
So learning more languages, like French, can promote you in every aspect of your life.

Facts about the French language
See why it's important to learn French
French is one of the most beautiful languages in the world. The language of love. It's no secret that it's a language with an immensely rich culture behind it; to fully get to the bottom of French culture and art, you have to know French.
French is, of course, the language primarily spoken in France, but not only there. It is the official language of Quebec, the largest province in Canada; Some other European countries, such as Luxembourg, Monaco, and parts of Belgium and Switzerland; and most of the countries in Africa. There are 31 countries in the world today in which French is the official language (the only one, or one of several) - more than any other language can claim. French also has presence in the Middle East and the Pacific, where France used to - or in the case of the Pacific, still does - run administered territories. All in all, about 300 million people speak French as their native language.
French is also the third most spoken language in the US, with strong presence in some southern states (particularly in Louisiana, where French has strong cultural influence as well, and where two distinct French dialects are present - Cajun and Creole) as well as in some New England states (particularly in Maine). So French may actually be helpful to you within America as well.

What's in Rocket French?
Learn French the rapid, fun, interesting way
Rocket French was designed and is taught by Marie-Claire Rivière, A native Parisian who is in love with her language, her culture, and her native city (and I should say that having visited Paris three times already, I can totally understand that!...). Her passion for the French language and the desire to teach it to others is certainly felt in the course.
Rocket French has several ingredients that complement each other for a full, interesting, and fun French learning experience. Here's what's in Rocket French:
- A 31-lesson audio course, about 20 minutes each lesson, in MP3 format. So you can load it into your computer, your MP3 player, and in many cases - your CD player, your DVD player, and your car stereo.
The audio course is intended for you to listen to, and interactively "converse" with the audio. It has been shown by studies to be the most effective way to learn a language, short of living in a country where it's the native language for a long period of time. written transcripts of each lesson are also included, so you can also see the conversations in writing and improve your reading. - 45 illustrated grammar lessons which include no less than 3000 audio tracks, and hundreds of pages of grammar instrustions and exercises.
French grammar can be a pain, I tell you that from experience. Rocket French approaches this issue in a comprehensive manner, and makes it much less painful. - MegaVocab - an interactive game software to improve your French vocabulary by more than 1000 words in a fun, challenging way. A very strong point of MegaVocab is that once you get more advanced you can add new pictures and words yourself, improving the level of the game to keep up with your improvement.
- MegaAudio - Another addition to the extensive audio approach of Rocket French. The French Language is famous for its pronunciation, which may be difficult to pick up, and which is impossible to figure out from written text because of multiple silent letters. MegaAudio is an interactive game to improve your vocabulary the Audio way - more than 1000 words illustrated by pictures are in this game in audio format, so you can learn what they mean and how to pronounce them in a short period of time.
- MegaVerbs - this is a more advanced interactive software game dealing specifically with verbs and grammar.
The language being taught is modern French, it is intended for you to have a decent conversation in French with native French-speakers, so the language being taught is meant to tackle situations an average person would encounter and have to speak at. It is, however, generalistic and not minded toward a particular subject; if you seek learning more particular terminologies - technical, business, and so on - perhaps you should seek a resource more focused on the area you're interested in. But for most purposes, Rocket French will enable you to speak comfortably and naturally within as little as three months (if you are disciplined and dedicated, of course). It's up to you to stick with the course, and practice what you learn.
The ability to learn foreign languages is a gift, some people do it better and faster than others. If you're not one of those people it may take you longer, but it's worth the effort - and hey, the way it's done by Rocket Spanish, it's fun, too.
Rocket French also features a members forum, where you can converse with Rocket Spanish's teachers or other users or Rocket French about any difficulty you may encounter. That's one of the strongest points of the program in my view.
Rocket French offers an initial 6-day free course for you to try. It also comes with an 8-week unconditional money back guarantee.

My final note
I hope I was able to cover the significance of the French language, and what Rocket French is all about.
I myself am bilingual; I taught myself a second language as a kid, thinking it may turn out to be important some day. I can't even begin to tell you how right I was, modesty aside...
So learn another language, another culture. Open your mind, and you shall be enriched.
Remember, though - no matter how great Rocket French may be, it cannot teach you if you don't cooperate; it's up to you to exercise some discipline and will. You can do it. I know.
Yours,
Steve
