Your lens ROCKS!!! I have been a rockhound for years. Here in MI it's mostly petoskey stones and Lake Superior Agates, but I have managed to collect a few out west specimans as well. Thanks for the great read and ideas where to go the next time I get out that way.

I'm a real rock hound. I've got a decent collection of rocks....some I have mined...some found in creek beds and some along streams. I'm always looking when I am out.

Hello . . I have a small rock shop in Redmond, Oregon and would like to invite collectors to visit. Can have lunch and dinner ready while we cut one of your rocks in my 18" rock saw. I have a wide variety of lapidary rocks like PRINCESS PLUME, BLUE SKY MINE, And some nice rare petrified Hardwoods. Just search for www. oregonagate.com . That will allow you to link into my ebay store: highdesertgift. Facebook search Rick Beckner, youtube search rvbeckner. High Desert Gift

Hi Beth, My father and I 30 year ago took out about 100 lbs of it. it was a vain that yelded about 1500 lbs total. I still have a few peaces left. My father made a 14" shandler our of some of it. Yes it is one of the most beautful stone i have ever worked. The Pinks, Blue and othe rainbow colors.

I live in Florida and I took most of my rock with me. Now I am lookinh to sell everything off because I can no longer work with my hand very much.

Has anyone out there ever heard of Oregon Sunet? Over 30 years ago, I watched a piece of this amazing rock pop out of the ground. We were at Richardson's Ranch. At that time they allowed Rock collectors the use of their equipment to make various pieces of jewelry.

I have a beautiful heart made from a chunk of Oregon Sunset, as well as several slabs. I also have a two fisted piece of Oregon Sunset, which I have to this day.

Does anyone out there have any information on Oregon Sunset Rock? It is some of the most vibrantly colored rock I've ever seen. I can see why it is compared to a sunset with its vivid pinks, purples and blues.

NayRocks directed me here, this is a really cool site, hmmm... what i like abut rocks eh? I don't have the appreciation for rocks that others do, but what i love is that my son LOVES to collect rocks, he's 5. We go for long walks and he finds lots of them, we bring them home and wash them, so that he can put them as beautiful decorations in our flower garden.

Hello Greg,it is a wonderful lens on the precious
    stones,giving detailed information.I would suggest
you to provide information on the world famous diamonds like the Kohinoor that was found in India,
and other diamonds found else where.
This will add "glitter" to your lens.
  • whydowork Feb 8, 2008 @ 9:45 am | delete
    Great lens!
You could make some pretty cool jewellery out of the small tumbled rocks in your picture above...maybe even turn that into a business :)
