Well, you brought back some memories. My parents owned a rock shop, and I remember tagging along after them when they went to the old copper mine piles to look for datolite. I have to say I never really got the bug, although I have found some nice agates. Very interesting information and pictures. I liked the pictures of the crystals on your website as well. Hope you add some more to this page.

I'm always looking to read a geologist's or collector's field stories. Thanks for sharing.

I loved reading about your experiences. Maybe someday you can visit Hot Springs, Arkansas, and check out our crystal specimens as well.

    Have a great day!

Say people this is Squidoo's very own Rock Star.
Word is he's never seen a stone that he did not
like. What he has posted is just the start.
So if you are like me bring on the rocks.

We took the boys on a vacation to NC and spent a week panning for gold and searching for gems. We had a blast.
    Great lens.
    5*

Enjoyed the pictures and comments. Indiana Carm liked them too. The hot spring comments were quite interesting.

This made me think of my uncle, a geologist, who was always mailing boxes of rocks. Anyway, it looks like you get to see some pretty interesting places.

Really nice lens. I always wanted to look for gems, on a more hobbyist scale of course. The closest I got was at one of the mines in North Carolina where we found a few small Rubies. I'm looking forward to your next lenses.
