I have a confession to make. Up until recently, I had no idea who Rodney Carrington was or why my husband would make such a fuss about how funny he is.
Then one night we're flipping through the channels and there he is on Comedy Central. From that point on I suppose you could say I was a fan.
It seems that Rodney Carrington has firmly carved out his niche in the history of comedy when I wasn't looking!
Who Is Rodney Carrington?
Rodney Carrington is an American stand-up comedian, actor, author, and country music artist. He has released six major-label studio albums and a greatest-hits package, on Mercury Records and Capitol Records.
His comedy act typically combines stand-up comedy and original songs. Carrington has also starred in the sitcom Rodney and alongside Toby Keith in the 2008 film Beer for My Horses.
Rodney Carrington's Career
Carrington's first album, Hangin' with Rodney, was released in 1998 via Mercury Records. This album, composed of both stand-up comedy and original songs, contained the non-charting single "Letter to My Penis" and peaked at #73 on Top Country Albums.
He moved to Capitol Records for his next album, 2000's Morning Wood. It was his first Top 20 album, and it brought him to the singles charts for the first time with "More of a Man", which reached #71 on Hot Country Singles & Tracks.
Carrington's third release for Capitol was 2003's Nut Sack. It included the single "Don't Look Now" which reached #60.
A Greatest Hits package followed in 2004. This album comprised selections from his Capitol recordings on two discs: stand-up routines on one disc, and songs on the other. It also included his first non-comedy song, "Things We Didn't Know."
Also in 2004, Carrington made his acting debut in Rodney, a sitcom which aired on ABC for two seasons. He released King of the Mountains in 2007, and in 2008 he starred alongside singer Toby Keith in the film Beer for My Horses.
El Nino Loco, his sixth Capitol album, was released in 2009. The latter album is composed entirely of songs, a first for Carrington.

Stand-up comedian Rodney Carrington stars as Rodney Hamilton, a down-to-earth guy who, with his own heartland intelligence, speaks the truth.
In the middle of real, everyday America, Rodney's life revolves around two things. His family - wife Trina and their two boys, Jack and Bo and his horrible job at a fiberglass plant. He also manages to make time for his longtime friend, Barry, and his man-hungry sister-in-law, Charlie, who often visit the Hamilton house.
Aside from raising a healthy, happy family with the only woman he's ever loved, Rodney is going to figure out how to find happiness pursuing his dream while being the best husband and dad he knows how to be.

Originally premiered on ABC Sept 21, 2004 as a 30 minute comedy. The show ended in May 2006.

I didn't know who he was either until about a year ago when visiting my boyfriend's relatives. They played several of his standup routines for us. We were rolling in laughter. Not to everyone's taste, I'm sure. But we thought he was hilarious.

I don't like him. I think that his supposed commedy is destructive to relationships, and puts people on a path of thinking negatively toward the person that they are supposed to treat better than anyone else...If I was his wife I wouldn't want to sleep with him either if he talked about me like that. I got into a fight with the guy I'm dating the other night over that humor...I wonder how many other relationships he has damaged by making fun of women???
