Roehl has a great training, with great instructors and everyone is very friendly and helpful, even the on the road trainers. I quit after my first 11 days on the road training. Why? I picked up a trainer 186 miles south from my house, where I had to leave my car. After 11 days on the road, I was dropped off 28 miles north of my house with no way home. So I ended up with my car app 210 miles from my pick up point.? I talke to the dispatcher about the problem and his answer was " you will figure it out " ! Yea I figured it out all right.. Needless to say, I dont work for "Roehl" But the School and instructors were great, and the price was right.

Its kind of hard to determine the scams from the legits. I have been trying to research the various truck companies and the schools. It seems like the reviews from people go in different directions.

A long unpaid layover by one post and then someone loving the miles getting 2700 plus a week.

Maybe the dispatchers? They hold grudges?

I have been thinking about getting my cdl, and signing a year contract with Roehl, Can anybody tell me how the school training is. I heard a lot about trucking companies who trains drivers to be a bad choice to make, I heard a lot about how the schools rush students through the courses, and if you cant keep up 100% they will let you go, and you still have to pay them. Can anybody give me some details on how Roehl's training program is? Thanks..

Roehl has been nothing but friendly and honest with me. Every person in the company is personable and helpful. I keep my MPG at or above my goal and i stay moving. I think that most of the drivers that sit for days at a time are not meeting their standards, and are not very nice to the folks they talk to at Roehl. I am a new driver and I get 2700 miles or more a week. I love Roehl. It's the best job i ever had and I am treated with more respect than any place i have ever worked.

I went to work for roehl the end of september my first day of driving was the 1st of october. Roehl is detaile with making sure you do not violate the log book. Roehl however has no concern with making sure their own house is in order. for example the recruiter stated I could expect 2300 to 2700 miles a week pulling a reefer. the truth is for the first 2 months i was well less than 2000. The month of december i saw a 34 hour reset in between nearly every load. I have been working for roehl three and a half months I have just gone over 30000 miles on the truck you know that does not paid miles. their layover pay is none existant they state they will pay it but I recently spent 5 days in birmingham for no pay. day one they said i had less than 6 hours on my 70 so no pay day two waiting period to layonver no pay day three they moved me 100 miles (to a better market they stated) no pay day four another waiting period no pay day five they sent a load to get picked up the next day no pay

Roehl's school is in Wisconsin and has free trainig for vets only. They no longer accept Illinois students due to the new law, May 1, 2008 - that states CDLs are not transferable in Illinois.
