Tricky Secrets About The Rogue Class...
Rogues. You either love them or you really, really hate them. People love playing rogues because either they like to be a thief, a backstabber, a jackass, or just plain cool.
Whichever way you decide to play them, the rogue is an adversary not easily trifled with. Those who underestimate their enemies usually get a knife to the back, their money stolen, and what's left of their armor getting hawked on the open market. You were warned.
Character Class: Rogue
Badass In Black.

A Primer On Treachery
Tread Lightly & Carry A Big Knife

The rogue is a jack of all trades type of class. Not able to tank, but still can be hard to kill, subtle, stealthy, they dish out a supreme amount of punishment very quickly and can stun and cripple opponents in seconds. And that's not even mentioning the poisons.
Rogues are also combat hounds, if they can't get in back of you, they'll just run up and stab you in the face or if they're patient, waiting until you have to pee or something.
This class is the middle ground of the combative classes, jack of all trades all around. It's also one of the most hated classes in the game for low level players as some people have taken to "Ganking Sprees" in low level areas on PvP servers. Comes with the territory I suppose, but be forewarned, rogues usually get ganged up on first, or second, depending on if there is a priest around...

Talent Trees
Who Are You Again?

Talent Tree: Assassination
Rip Em' Apart At The Seams!

Assassination rogues are fairly skill oriented. Often times, this spec might get mixed in with a main tree, but assassination is pretty effective on its own.
Imagine for a second, that the rogue you are facing doesn't need to stealth. He just calmly walks up to you and begins whipping up combos that make your eyes glaze over, until he takes those out too. That's an assassination rogue. He's a little bit like a professional hitman, but more, you know, roguish.
Decent in groups for off-DPS, best played for solo grinding and fairly decent for PvP.
Talent Tree: Combat
The Most Powerful Kick To The Groin. Ever.

Combat rogues don't need to stealth. They don't need fancy moves either. They can just run up and kick your ass and there's very little you can do about it. The only good news is that you can see them coming.
Spec'ing combat means you have nothing to hide, you came to get down and dirty and you're faster than a warrior. That's pretty much it. Mixed with a couple points from other talent pools and that makes you a pretty mean person.
This spec is great for groups, pretty good at PvP, and can usually hold their own grinding. Just remember though, you have poor stealth, so act appropriately.
Talent Tree: Subtlety
You'll Never See Them Coming

The majority of rogues out there are subtlety rogues. This means you can stealth and people have a really hard time finding you. This also means you get your own set of particularly nasty strikes you can inflict on people with their backs to you.
This class does require some patience though. Granted, this is less so at the higher levels because of speed boosts and what not, but some degree of patience is needed nonetheless.
Stealth rogues aren't the best in groups, but can aid in particular situations and are best at off-DPS. Grinding, they are pretty good, and they are really good at PvP situations. Probably why people like to use them against lower level areas.
