The Editors of Rolling Stone Magazine wrote 124 lenses, probably imagining that their efforts would be recognized.
Did you know that the Editors of Rolling Stone wrote 124 lenses?
Professional writing isn't necessarily better than anybody else's -- "professional" just means somebody's getting paid. On the other hand, these lenses are written to one standard, so they're an indicator of what's popular at Squidoo.
Amazon Price: $14.95 (as of 07/26/2008)
The Rolling Stone Editors' lenses are primarily pointers to articles, album reviews, and videos at Rolling Stone online, but before you get all incensed and give them a poor rating, here's what the Squidoo FAQ says:
"A lens is one person's view on a topic that matters to her. It's an easy-to-build, single web page that can point to blogs, favorite links, RSS feeds, Flickr photos, Google maps, eBay auctions, CafePress designs, Amazon books or music, and more. Then, when someone is looking for recommended information, fast, your lens gets him started and sends him off in the right direction. It's a place for searchers to start, not finish."
This is a great place to start your own lens on any of these 124 featured acts:
We've also added links to artists' and groups' Official Websites, XML Links you can use with Squidoo's RSS module to create current listings of CDs by your favorites, and links to Real Networks Rhapsody service where you can get unlimited downloads and free music download software for a very reasonable subscription fee. Finally, there are links to Newsgroups where you can share thoughts, photos, concert information and anything else about your favorites with like-minded fans.
To add a current CD list (updated hourly) to your lens, simply copy the URL of the "XML" links to a Squidoo RSS module in the space that says, "What URL would you like to pull RSS from?" (Choose 10 items, and view everything available) Amazon.com will do the rest!
This feed should be covered by "fair use," since it only provides links back to the full article and a breif "teaser." I'm sure Rolling Stone will let us know if they disagree!

Fetching RSS feed... please stand bySubscribe to The Whole Ed Cata-Blog
I've never quite been sure what distinguishes a blog from a regular webpage. Timeliness seems to have something to do with it, but that doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule.
Anyway, here are some of the things I've been working on lately...
