Born October 2, 1951, in Wallsend, England, Gordon Sumner's life changed the evening a fellow musician in the Phoenix Jazzmen caught sight of his black and yellow striped sweater and decided to re-christen him Sting. Fame quickly followed with his groundbreaking punk/ rock band The Police in the 1980s. Sting launched his solo career with "The Dream of the Blue Turtles" is now an international music star and award winning singer/songwriter.
