"My optimism wears heavy boots and is loud." ~ rollins

Starting with a sudden offer to become the lead singer of the LA punk rock band Black Flag back in the early 80s, Henry Rollins has built himself up into a multi-media powerhouse.  He runs his own book company, tours with both his band and doing spoken word, hosts his own tv show (the Henry Rolins Show on IFC), hosts a weekly radio show (which totally ROCKS!) and makes appearances overseas on USO tours, traveling to entertain soliders currently serving in the Middle East. And if he should find himself at home in LA without enough to do, he tends to take a trip to somewhere he's never been before.

You can catch him in the second season of "SONS OF ANARCHY" where he portrays AJ Weston, white power gang member.  Catch it on the FX network or on Hulu.com.

Henry Rollins at a Glance

Henry Rollins (born February 13, 1961 as Henry Lawrence Garfield) is an American singer-songwriter, raconteur, spoken word artist, writer, publisher, actor, radio DJ, and activist.

After joining the short-lived Washington D.C. band State of Alert in 1980, Rollins fronted the California hardcore punk band Black Flag from 1981 until 1986. Following the band's breakup, Rollins soon established the record label and publishing company 2.13.61 to release his spoken word albums, as well as forming the Rollins Band, which toured with a number of lineups until 2003 and during 2006.

AJ Weston

one of the bad guys on Sons of Anarchy

Rollins was cast in the second season of the FX network drama "Sons of Anarchy" playing the right-hand and muscle to a white supremacist masquerading as a mild-mannered business man. Henry has said the only redeeming feature of this character is that he loves his two sons. All the tattoos you see on Rollins on the show are his except for one: the Nordic rune (a white power symbol) that appears at the base of Weston's throat, right where his shirt collar opens.

Henry Rollins Answers Your Questions About Politics | The A.V. Club
Last week, we solicited your questions about politics for Henry Rollins. This week, Rollins is back with the answers.
"You can't dance to a book" Neddal Ayad interviews Henry Rollins
Rollins can be a notoriously difficult interview. He doesn't suffer fools gladly, and I was more than a little intimidated when I called him up at the 2.13.61 offices last spring. I was relieved to discover that Rollins is a very friendly, self-effacing, and gracious guy and that he was more than willing to talk about his writing and the writers he's worked with over the years.
Interview with Henry Rollins: Have Shorts Will Travel (NY Rock)
NY Rock freelancer Bill Ribas recently gave Henry Rollins a call to discuss wives, girlfriends, and Nike shorts.
Saul Williams Vs. Henry Rollins | The Exclusive Interview
When we were approached with an opportunity to interview rock & roll icon Henry Rollins, it took about .5 seconds to say "HELL YES!" But the more we thought about it, the more nervous we got. I mean, Henry is a pretty intense guy. Would he tear us to shreds over the phone with a verbal barrage of insults? Would he talk about some 13th century Japanese author we know nothing about and then rip our hearts our of chest? So, in an effort to spare ourselves certain death at the hands of one of rock & roll's most intense, interesting and thought provoking personalities, we decided it would be much more entertaining (and beneficial to our health) to pair him up with an equally intense, politically charged wordsmith. The first person that came to mind (obviously) was poet/musician/actor Saul Williams, possibly the only person in the universe who could go blow for blow with this intellectual heavyweight. Here is the result of that meeting of the minds.
Provoking Human Evolution: An Unexpurgated Conversation with Henry Rollins
Henry Rollins is by far the easiest person to interview. He's intelligent, he's extremely well-informed and globally conscious, he's funny, and he inherently appreciates what it is that an interviewer needs of him. Add each aforementioned aspect to the fact that he's got his hand in several cookies jars as far as his life's work goes - and it makes for a mentally titillating interaction, to say the least.

Rant, Rave, Get It Off Your Chest!

Rollins is pretty out-spoken so here's where you get your chance to do the same!
