Great list and good idea! I loved Eternal Sunshine. Another couple great, genuinely romantic flicks like this: Music and Lyrics, Once, The Princess and the Warrior.

I'm down for romance movies from time to time. And yes, I'm a man. Lost in Translation was definitely a quirky one. I liked it. On top of your main list is Amélie, which was highly enjoyable.

I will follow your advice because I have the exact same problem as you. I always think romantic movies sucks and the other girls think I'm insensitive or something - but don't get me wrong, I love romance, I just like it intelligent. Also, the only one I've watched from your list is Brokeback Mountain, which is my favorite movie of all time, so that's a good sign.

I absolutely despise movies that aim at making me cry. Frequently they fall in the "romantic" classification, which makes it even harder to find good ones. Someday, watch "The Scarlet Pimpernel" with Leslie Howard and Merle Oberon, and the last 2-3 lines. That's romantic.

Great lens! I cast my vote for Overboard! It is one of the few movies I can watch over and over.

Whoever would have thought that the Shining would be listed on a lens about romantic comedies...I love it.

What a great lens. 911 brought fear and mistrust to our lives. One wonders how to bring back love and trust. By just opening our eyes we will notice however that Love Actually is All Around.

Margaret, I think GWTW is very conventional, which is why it didn't make the cut...

disgusted, I'd say your suggestions probably work for a young, male and anime-oriented world.

OK - how about for the few men that want something a bit better than a pure chick flick?
AKIA Kaneda and Kei fall in lover and save the world on bikes manga at its best
BATTLE ROYALE Shuya and Noriko secretly faall in love.
SILER DREAM RACER bikes and yet more bikes and David Essex for the girls

Very interesting lens! I hope you like my own addition. Romance ain't quite what it used to be, is it? Welcome to the Valentine's Day group! I expect you to be a BIG favorite.

Wow, thanks for the great new entries on the Reel-Life to Real-Life Plexo! Those are awesome! (bull durham, bugsy and overboard)

Well, ya know, that's why this lens was created! Seriously though, try David Lynch's Wild At Heart. It's a very strange action film.
