Romance Books - let's talk about them!
This lens is dedicated to sharing my favourite Romance authors and books with the world. I would also love to hear about your favourite authors and books.
I love a range of styles and books from Historical Romance through to Sci-Fi and Paranornal Romance. I find that I'm not partial to Contemporary or Modern romances, although I have found one or two authors/books that I have liked.
I have recently discovered Romance Audio Books and am really enjoying experiencing my favourite books being read!
This lens is deliberately G rated - even though some of the books I read are quite explicit. I don't want any spoilers for other readers.
Speaking of Spoilers - if you are going to add a comment that contains details of a book you've read or listened to, please clearly tag the comments as a Spoiler, so as not to ruin others enjoyment!

Romance Audio Books - Even More in MP3 Download format
I didn't think it could get any better than that until I heard recently that Books In Motion had added MP3 downloads to their offerings.
Oh My Goodness! Now I can get some of my favourite authors, in audio book format, in just minutes - in MP3 download. I don't have to wait for me MP3 CD to arrive so I can listen to it. How great is that?
Checking the list of offerings available in MP3 download format, and there are more being added every day, I found Christine Feehans Dark Series. I adore Christine Feehan and the Carpathians and already own several of the audio books. My next purchase, Christine Feehans Dark Melody, will be in MP3 download format. I will also save nearly $20 by using the MP3 download.... WOW, I am really excited about this.Of course, there are a lot more than romance audio books available through MP3 download, and if you're looking for something in particular, check out the MP3 Downloads available to you.
My Favourite Authors
(just a few of my favourite things)
I thought it would be pertinent to share a list of my favourite Romance authors to start with. In later postings, I will share my favourite books etc.My most favourite romance author of all would have to be Virginia Henley. I first read A Year and A Day many years ago, not long after it had been published. I had a mad Scottish "fetish" at the time and the book looked interesting. What can I say, I finished the book and started again! I have since acquired and read all of Virginia's novels and eagerly anticipate her next one. I once read that Virginia Henley was the "Queen of Lust" - I understand why.
My next favourite author would be Johanna Lindsay, particularly her Mallory series, although all of her works are great. I have actually listened to one of her books in Audio format - see My Audio Book Reviews for the details.
Hot of the heels of these two are Christine Feehan (at the time of editing, the site was being revamped). Her Dark series is fantastic, relating the tales of the inhabitants of the Carpathian Mountains. Check out my Audio Book reviews, there are a number of her books available in audio format.
Sherilyn Kenyon comes in next (also known as Kinley McGregor)with her Dark-Hunter series. A great series, with more stories to be told.
Catherine Coulter is also a favourite. Catherine's works are varied - a great collection of Historical Romance series and some great Contemporary Romances. Catherines works are one of the few set in modern times that I enjoy.
The things I enjoy most about these authors is their ability to "poke fun" at the "Male heroes" and the fact that their heroines are generally not wilting roses.
What do you think?
Here's my favorite link:
Christine Feehan Books (particularly in Audio Format)
Christine Feehan, in my opinion, is a great author. No doubt about it. She manages to capture the imagination and I can generally relate to her heroes and heroines. I particular like the way her female characters are no shrinking violets, but strong individuals - much to the distress and discomfit of her heroes!I also enjoy the level of humour that she manages to inject into her books. All of the books I have read have a high "action" content, nicely laced with Romance and Lust.
Christines' Ghost Walker and Drake Sisters series are set in modern times. These are amongst the few "contemporary" romances that I enjoy - probably because of the paranormal slant.
I most enjoy the Dark series though. Strong, emotionally challenged, Carpathian males bought low by their female counterparts. O.K, not exactly, but that's how I envisage them. My favourite Carpathian male would be Gregori - I think Christine manages to portray a truly tortured soul.
I have read the entire Dark Series many times now. After subscribing to Christines' newsletter, I found out that the series was being released in audio format! I immediately purchased Dark Prince and Dark Desire in CD format. I then purchased Dark Magic and Dark Gold in MP3 CD format. I have had many hours of listening pleasure. The benefit of the MP3 CD format is that I can copy the files onto my MP3 player (or mobile phone) and listen where ever I want.
There are 9 Dark Series books available in audio format. The best place I have found to buy them are Books In Motion. Books In Motion deliver internationally and are extremely easy to deal with. Otherwise, Amazon appears to be the only other place to purchase these.
For those interested in Paranormal Romance, I highly recommend Christine Feehan as an author of choice.
Please leave a comment regarding your opinion of Christine Feehan!

Fetching RSS feed... please stand byJanet Evanovich - Stephanie Plum
I love Janet Evanovichs writing style, down to earth and fun and I imagine, a reasonable amount of the real Janet in there.
Meet Stephanie and the two men in her life - Morelli and Ranger - and you work it out!
Strongly recommend the entire Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series.

I agree....I don't like sappy heroines who need a man to save them. I like to see women who are strong in character. Lindsay has to be my favorite out of your list but I also enjoy reading Susan Elizabeth Phillips, that woman has some strong women in her books! Posted September 14, 2007 |
