Red Gothic RoseThe Stephen King übercreepy mini-series "Rose Red" and sequel "The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer"
were filmed at a magnificent bed and breakfast in Lakewood, Washington called Thornewood Castle. It is no coincidence that like the manor in the movie, Thornewood Castle is also said to be inhabited by a number of ghosts. They have reportedly been seen and heard inside and outside the manor. Nevertheless, Thornewood Castle remains a much desired location for beautiful weddings and luxury accommodations. Click here for the castle's haunted history.

Spooky Stays at The Castle

Yelpers Speak Out

Thornewood Castle Inn & Gardens - Lakewood, WA

Sean M. Edmonds, WA- This place is amazing. My girlfriend and I stayed so that we could hunt for ghosts (the whole place is reported to be very haunted and I think it is based on our stay). We had the whole run of the huge castle. Only two other couples where staying so we had all night to run around and look for ghosts. This is truly an amazing place to stay and I would highly recommend it for anyone. Beware however, it is haunted...

Things That Go Bump in the Night...

Adrian R. Auburn, WA- Talk about an experience of a lifetime,

the Thornewood Castle delivered as expected. As you may have heard, this famous B&B is the home of a few ghosts who make an appearance from time to time. During my stay, they were there all night long! My fiance and I stayed there back in early Dec.' 06 w/ 2 other couples, who are our friends. Upon checking in, we were told we'd be the only ones staying there for the evening. The decor was amazing, being the holiday season. This place was decked out with Christmas lights, trees, angels and cherubs....everywhere. To add to the atmosphere, add some classical music which was echoing to all the rooms below. As soon as I walked in, you could feel a presence of someone/something watching you. It didn't feel negative nor did it feel like you were going to be harmed. It was almost of a peaceful sense and calmness. We snapped quite a few photos of the place and low & behold, we caught tons of orbs in our pics!

The most amazing, yet freaky thing that happened to us was when we were upstairs on the 3rd floor in the game room. Two of our friends went back down to the 2nd floor, to their rooms to make some drinks. Shortly afterward, the remaining 4 of us heard a LOUD crash from outside the hallway. We turned to our left and saw a wooden door that houses the wall mounted fire extinguisher fire hose laying on the floor. Now.....the law of Physics, in my mind, works to where if something flat falls from a wall, it usually falls away from the wall and face first to the floor and/or ground. Well, this door landed facing up, with the sticker "FIRE EXTINGUISHER" facing you and was placed right up against the wall. This totally looked as if someone had literally placed it by hand into this position on purpose. The thing is no one else was there but us 6, 4 in the game room with 2 of us downstairs! Talk about goose bumps, hairy raising and freaky experience. All in all, the next morning we awoke to a beautiful breakfast in bed and nice scenery. This place is a "MUST DO" and should be on the top of your list of places to visit and see!

My first sprinkling of angel dust on this lens has long worn off so I am back once again to scatter a little more. It is my quest this week to re-bless the lenses which I blessed in October of 2010. Your lens is on this list.

Beautiful lens and yes it might be a spooky thing to be born at Halloween. You never ever need to remember the B'day because it falls on Halloween and automatically qualifies for a B'day Halloween gift.

LOL! Great lens and ideas! My son's original birth due date was Oct. 31st. I spent 8 months praying that would not happen. I wanted him to have a birthday separate from Halloween. As it turns out, he loves Halloween and would not have minded that birth date. He missed it by 2 days :) He would love Thornewood Castle!

Love the idea of the personalized vampire book. My neighbor, who happens to have a Halloween birthday, is a Twilight die-hard. I'll have to suggest this to her husband!
