Is it just me or is this how you envision Dracula? It's taking the whole bad boy thing to a new level. Okay, maybe its just me!

Choosing the Next Dracula

"I am Dracula, and I bid you welcome . . . "

I guess depending on what Dracula looked like, the line would make you feel, would be different. You can see by altering the look of the character in a movie can completely lead you down a diffent path. This particular character would simply scare me to death... nothing seductive about it at all!

If you were going to make the next Dracula movie, who would you choose to play the part?? You can leave your comment in the guest book at the bottom of the lens.

Protecting Yourself With Garlic

Seeing that I really don't know any Vampires (and Dracula wasn't one anyway) I don't really know if the whole idea of using garlic to protect yourself has any substance to it or not. But here is one curious little tidbit that I found this morning. If you DON'T LIKE GARLIC... you could find yourself on the suspect list.

Dracula in the News

Dracula... The Game
Now this might be fun when the weather cools and Halloween approaches. I didn't even know it existed until a few minutes ago! I'm not really into computer games, but this one has me curious!
The Dracula Phone
One very good reason why you don't want one!

Elizabeth Bathory or... Countess Dracula

Bram Stoker may have based his book about Dracula being a vampire, but I just found in my reading today that there was a woman in the 16th century named Elizabeth Bathory who was documented as a serial killer, murdering girls and young women so that she could bathe in their blood. In doing so, she could maintain her youthful appearance. (Do you see the link here between Dracula drinking blood and then appearing younger) Later she was referred to as Countess Dracula.

And here is something interesting. She had a daughter at the age of 15 so perhaps her lineage continues. Hmmm

Bram Stoker

Abraham "Bram" Stoker (8 November 1847?20 April 1912) was an Irish novelist and short story writer, best known today for his 1897 horror novel Dracula. During his lifetime, he was better known as the personal assistant of actor Henry Irving and business manager of the Lyceum Theatre in London, which Irving owned.

Could Vampires Really Exist??

*I truly believe that there is a lot in our world that we know nothing about. Could there really vampires walking our streets at night? The logical part of me would say no, but there is some little part of me who just can't be sure.

Old Superstitions

Some odd methods of protecting yourself from a vampire existed over the years. I suppose that if one believed in their existance, they would do just about anything (especially at night) to protect themselves. One such practice was to bar the entrance to the bedchamber with iron bars. Vampires apparently had an intense dislike of iron. Another was to leave candles burning in the room. We all have heard the stories about Vampires requiring the dark to survive, so I can see the connection.

A Bit More History
Lots of photos, but I was especially interested in the home where he spent his childhood. While you are there, check out the medalion. It is presently owned by a man in London, England. I wonder what kind of vibes it would give off??
The Burning of the Sick and Poor
Just an anecdote (I think) but from what I have been reading, he could very well have done this. Wouldn't surprise me in the least!
Vlad Dracula Biography
It's still hard to believe that someone could be born in the 1400s... I know there were people wandering around way back then, but it's still hard to believe that people were going about their daily business just like we do today. I wonder what they would like of us living in the 21st century??
