Rome - Italy
Rome or Roma, for its native inhabitants, is such a fascinating city. Being the capital city of Italy, it is considered as one of the centers of tourism worldwide. It is also the country's most populous and largest city. Through the years, this city has been known for several names. One of those names include being dubbed as the "Caput Mundi" which literally means "Capital of the World. It is also called the la Citta Eterna which means Eternal City, Limen Apostolorum meaning Threshold of the Apostles, la Citta dei sette colli which means The City of Seven Hills and lastly, l'Urbe meaning, "The City". It is situated in the Western portion of the Italian Peninsula, in the Lazio region, Rome is rich in both nature and structural developments. It has also been blessed with the typical Mediterranean climate, which then characterizes the Mediterranean coasts of Italy. Rome is ideal for all those people all over Europe or even around the world who loves the sun, good food, culture and history. From the dramatic historical story to its rich, glamorous way of life, this city has been through a lot since it was founded. A good blend of wilderness and solemnity amongst its citizens makes this city such a crowd favorite to all the travelers.
Among all of these, Rome is most well known for the Colosseum, the largest amphitheater in the world. Every year, thousands of people come to visit this historical landmark. It is said that it is in this amphitheater that the gladiators fought against the ferocious lions while the whole town watched and screamed to their delight. The Colosseum is considered as one of the symbols of Rome.
Ancient villas surround Rome. These ancient villas are the remains of the crowns of the villas that circle around the papal city. Since civilization and real estate, only few villas have remained. Some of these villas include the Villa Borghese, known for its naturalistic nineteenth century English style that contains buildings, museums and other attractions. Another well known villa is the Villa Albani, which was originally built by Alessandro Cardinal Albani to house his antique collection. The Villa Torlonia is one of the best examples of the Art Noveau mansion which was also the Roman residence or world famous Benito Mussolini.
The best time to go to Rome is during the Easter season until October. Spring and autumn are usually the peak periods for tourism. Numerous outdoor festivals and concerts attract tourists to Rome. The ideal activities to do around Rome include swimming, cycling, jogging, horse riding and bath house.
It is often the case that during the Holy Week, many Catholics come to the city and host a pilgrimage. However, many summer fanatics also drop by this city for some night club fun and shopping.
The sights are absolutely fantastic. The Arco Di Constantino is one of the high;y recommended spots for travelers. Located at the east of the Colosseum, it was built in 312AD to commemorate Emperor Constantine's victory. It is now one of the few last great monuments for Romans.

SPANISH STEPS
The Spanish Steps (Italian: Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti) are a set of steps in Rome, Italy, climbing a steep slope between the Piazza di Spagna at the base and Piazza Trinità dei Monti, dominated by Trinità dei Monti, the church that was under the patronage of the Bourbon kings of France, above. The Scalinata is "without a doubt the longest and widest staircase in all Europe."Piazza di Spagna
In the Piazza at the base is the Early Baroque fountain called La Fontana della Barcaccia ("Fountain of the Old Boat"), built in 1627-29 and often credited to Pietro Bernini, father of a more famous son, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, who is recently said to have collaborated on the decoration. The elder Bernini had been the pope's architect for the Acqua Vergine, since 1623. According to an unlikely legend, Pope Urban VIII had the fountain installed after he had been impressed by a boat brought here by a flood of the Tiber river.
Fontana della Barcaccia, seen from the top of the Spanish Steps. The narrow Via Condotti, home to many of Rome's designer shops, runs up the picture.

In the piazza, at the corner on the right as one begins to climb the steps, is the house where English poet John Keats lived and died in 1821; it is now a museum dedicated to his memory, full of memorabilia of the English Romantic generation. On the same right side stands the 15th century former cardinal Lorenzo Cybo de Mari's palace, now Ferrari di Valbona, a building altered in 1936 to designs by Marcello Piacentini, the main city planner during Fascism, with modern terraces perfectly in harmony with the surrounding baroque context.
At the top the Viale ramps up the Pincio which is the Pincian Hill, omitted, like the Janiculum, from the classic Seven hills of Rome. From the top of the steps the Villa Medici can be reached.
