No Other President Has Inspired Me Like Ronald Reagan

I was only a child when Ronald Reagan took office, but each time I saw him on my television screen, it was like looking at my second dad.  He was a role model and father figure - a leader I looked up to and respected.

As I now sit watching the demise of politics as an adult, I long for a President to represent our great nation who was as complete a man as our 40th President.

Because I was only 11 years old when he took office, I don't recall all of the great things in detail. I'm looking forward to watching videos and reading memoirs about this great man and soaking up more information.

As I learn, you'll learn, too - when I update this lens with the information I find. I'm not blindly saying Ronald Reagan had no faults. He wouldn't be human if he didn't.  But I feel he was exactly what the world needed and right now, we need him again.

The Reagan Diaries

I've read excerpts of this book and I cried it was so moving. This man had such depth to him and honor unlike most politicans. Order the basic book - or if you're a true Reagan fan, get the leatherbound collector's edition!

Ronald Reagan's Pre-Presidency Days

Ronald Wilson Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in Tampico, Illinois. He went to Eureka College, studying economics and sociology.

He was on the football team and in the theater group. When Reagan graduated, he combined his talents to become a sports announcer on the radio, but in 1937 he launched his career in front of the big screen in Hollywood, completing 53 films.

He first married an actress - Jane Wyman, and had two children with her - Maureen and Michael. In 1952, he married Nancy Davis, another actress - and they, too, had two children - Patricia and Ronald.
