Ron Paul
I have always been a democrat and have rarely voted for a republican. I found out about Dr. Ron Paul about a year ago. He is a Republican congressman from Texas. Let me define Republican:
A major US political party also known as the GOP (standing for the Grand Old Party). The symbol of the Republican party is the elephant. The Republican party was founded as an anti-slavery party in the mid 1800s. The first Republican US President was Abraham Lincoln.
Many today look at the republican party and associate it with neo-cons such as pResident Bush. They see republicans as those who would promote slavery rather than abolish it. Republicans are usually believed to be Christian and or tight-assed white folk. These are misconceptions.
True republicans work for very limited government and to keep that government out of the personal lives of the people.
Dr. Ron Paul ran for president on the libertarian ticket in the past, but has always been a republican. He is dislikes by most republicans and is called "Dr. No" on capitol hill because of his many votes against the mainstream republican or democratic vote.
Dr. Paul is disliked because he is a threat to corporate America. The America that has made us into a nation of people living on credit, with a government controlled by religious influence, slaves to the dollar (yes, the one that is failing) and enslaved by illegal organizations such as the IRS. A nation that is entangled with the likes of the U.N.
Dr. Paul is a constitutionalist. He makes his decision based, not on his beliefs of his Christian faith, but on the Constitution. Why would republicans find this threatening? Because many of the laws, presidential orders that have been signed and the current administration are working diligently to destroy the constitution and set up there own tyrannical government where government has the ultimate power. Some refer to this as a dictatorship. What is being set up by these so called republicans is the exact opposite of what the republican party stands for.
Some facts about Dr. Ron Paul:
I ask you to compare these facts with the other candidates. Democrat and Republican.
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress.
I challenge you to find another candidate with such a fine record.
There are many important issues that we need to deal with, as a society of free people. These would include, but are not limited to the abortion issue, equal rights for ALL citizens, immigration laws, the separation of religion and state. These are but a few and all very important, however, these mean nothing without getting back to our constitution. I do not agree with all of Dr. Paul's stances on all of the issues, however, we need a new start. We need a leader who actually defends the Constitution of the United States first and foremost. This is, after all, the job of the President of the United States.
It is my personal opinion that if you vote for a candidate solely on one issue you are a fool. Look at the whole story. Look at the honesty and record of Dr, Ron Paul. Democrats and Republicans alike want to dig up dirt on Ron Paul and no one has been able to do so. This is a good man whose political beliefs are closest to those of our founding fathers
Dr. Ron Paul - Conservative Republican - For a very conservative/limited federal government and one that stays out of our personal lives. Equal rights for all.
I find it more than interesting that our founding fathers called for equal rights for ALL, yet that is not what the other candidates want. On the neo-con side we have the Christian right who has never been for equal rights and on the democratic side we have those who want equal rights for corporate America and the "upper class" and who cater to there political contributors. Ron Paul's contributors are the people. He is tied to no corporate interests.
This is our chance. Yes, it is a long-shot and some say "radical", but it is possible. We CAN take our country back.
Vote Ron Paul in the primaries and 2008! "Hope for America."
