Ronzoni Rigatoni Pasta

When we moved from north to south I was disappointed to learn that Ronzoni products weren't sold in my new neck of the woods but I thought we'd be fine with all of the other pasta products that were available. And to be honest, we do like most of the macaroni we've tried, with the exception of the Rigatoni products. We really missed Ronzoni's Rigatoni pasta.

Rigatoni is my husband's all-time favorite pasta shape and we both grew up with Ronzoni products as a staple in our family kitchens.

Read on to learn how we brought Ronzoni Rigatoni back into our home and saved money doing it!

But First... What is Rigatoni?

If you don't know, you're missing out!

Rigatoni

Rigatoni is a thicker, meatier, ribbed tubular form of pasta.

Rigatoni is larger than penne, usually cut about 1 1/2 inches in length and has square-cut ends.

Rigatoni is shaped and sized just perfect to serve with heavier meat and vegetable sauces and gravies. It holds up well when using it in pasta bakes too.

Rigatoni

Ronzoni Rigatoni is still a favorite at our house!

Ronzoni Rigatoni Macaroni

Don't get me wrong, they do sell Rigatoni where I live, just not Ronzoni Rigatoni and I've learned that for some reason not all Rigatoni is created equally. The size, shape, consistency, and price can vary widely between pasta brands. I found one brand that we liked a lot but it cost over $4.00 a box. I'm not against paying more for something we really like but paying over $4.00 for a one pound box of pasta is unreasonable to me.

One day while browsing online I got the idea to look for Ronzoni products that could be shipped to me and to my surprise and delight I found them on Amazon, at discounted prices!

You do have to buy in bulk but pasta has a long shelf life and like I said, we love Rigatoni at my house so this isn't a problem for us.

If you've been missing your Ronzoni Rigatoni, or just want to save some money on your grocery bill I highly recommend shopping for your pasta at Amazon.

My favorite macaroni when I was growing up was also the ridged, rectangular -shaped macaroni that was flat, had thick walls and the hollow was wide enough to insert your fork entirely into the hollow and pick it up. I don't see it on the shelves anymore, and I've forgotten what the macaroni was called. I called a customer rep at Ronzoni, and she had no idea what I was talking about. People remember it, but can't remember the name of the product. Online image searches have been to no avail.

There was a Ronzoni Rigatoni available for many years but has been unavailable for some time now. When cooked the tube shape would be collapsed and lay flat with an opening just wide enough for ther tines of the fork to spear one at a time. What was it called and is it still being made? Thank you Aniello
