Rory Gallagher band

Rory Gallagher was born in 1947 in Ballyshannon before leading the Irish Rock Music movement and performing on the World Stage for some very successful 25 years. An Irish blues and rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. Rory Gallagher didn't make music to make people think he was the best in the world or better than certain other artists. He done what he loved, made blues music. He was not interested in fame but getting up in front of a live audience and 'going to work' on playing exciting aggresive thumping blues on his well worn down to the wood 1961 Stratocaster.

Play Blues Guitar - Learn to Play the Blues like Rory Gallagher

Playing through the blues

Website: www.playingthroughtheblues.com

I've just finished looking at Griff Hamlin's latest
package, Playing Through The Blues - A Guide For The
Lead Guitar Player. Obviously I see a lot of products either because I'm looking for something specific, or because someone wants me to promote their product.

Most of the time I'm less than impressed, but this
product has me quite excited because it is so different from anything I have seen in a long time. That is why I have taken the time to sit and type a letter to all the people I know and tell you all about it.

Learning the blues can be a frustrating task. It seems so simple, but only a handful of people seem to know the trick to really making it sound great. Griff and his team have put together what I believe is a really thorough, step-by-step method that has actually been tested and proven on his own guitar students over the past several years.

Rory Gallagher strat hero

Rory Gallagher was a Blues God who was poorly marketed. But now his cd sales, over twenty million albums sold. This shows that the music he made has stood the test of time. Rory gallagher had his own totally unique sound which made me drawn to his style of music and playing. He was Ireland's first international rock star and was revered not only for his excellent musicianship and talent, but as an entertainer. He died far too young, but not without leaving a mass of fans worldwide.

Rory Gallagher's line-up in the 1980s was extremely stable: Gerry McAvoy has been with Rory`s group since day one, 1970, before he took the risk of leaving ranks after two decades, and Brendan O`Neillon drums for one decade.

Rory Gallagher is definitely the unsung hero of contemporary blues-rock guitar. Rory Gallagher who died at age 46 in 1995 was the Irish Eric Clapton. He was a great player who is sadly missed..

Rory Gallaghers Strat

Gallagher has always been associated with a well-worn and battered sunburst 1961 Stratocaster, which his brother Donal has officially retired. It was said to be the first one ever in Ireland. Gallagher bought it for just about a £100 at Crowley's Music Store on Cork's McCurtain Street. The guitar was extensively modified and repaired by Gallagher. The biggest effect that years of touring have had is the almost complete removal of the guitar's sunburst finish. Repro's of the guitar have recently been sold by Fender, though with smaller frets and a lower action than the original Fender strat.
