Roseanne: The Best Sitcom on Television
Ranked #21,855 in Entertainment, #266,274 overall
Making America laugh for 9 years...
Roseanne is a sitcom that broadcast from 1988 to 1997. It was named after Roseanne Barr, a well-known and respected comedian. The show follows her family in Lanford, Illinois. Although Lanford is a fictional town, Barr's characters and dialogue made Lanford seem very real. The show often centered around controversial subjects such as teen pregnancy, poverty, homosexuality, divorce, obesity, drug use, et cetera.
What makes this show so amazing is that it is incredibly relatable to the average American family. Their love for each other and their overwhelming sense of humor keeps them together despite many downfalls. For example, my favorite scene of the whole show occurs during one episode when the electricity is cut off in the Conner's home due to inability to pay the bill. Right when the electricity turns off, Roseanne turns to her husband and says, "Well, middle class was fun!"

- Roseanne was a breakthrough for American television, a savagely funny answer to Leave It to Beaver and Ozzie and Harriet. It's one of the most brilliantly written sitcoms ever. I will watch a rerun anytime it's on. Whether you're a fan of Roseanne or not, she's a television legend up there with Lucy.
