The Famous Artist Course
Do you remember those ads where you would draw a picture of a dog and then send it in to the Famous Artist Course? When I was around twelve years old, a family friend gave me The Famous Artist Course Book One. I was fascinated and studied every chapter in the book and worked on all the practice exercises. That was when I knew that I wanted to be an artist.
After high school, I went to school for Fashion Merchandising and Design and later took painting and drawing classes at the local Community College and through art clubs. It has become a life long interest for me. I am happy and excited to have found a place where I can share my interests and stories with others.

Rocky Point
Rocky Point
Rocky PointI painted this scene after our family took a road trip to Canada from Minneapolis. We were on the road for ten days, camping with our two kids and big black lab. This scene is from the north shore of Lake Superior. We followed the north shore of Lake Superior into Canada and then traveled west along the northern edge of the Boundary Waters. We then came back into the USA at International Falls and traveled back to the "Cities".
I did several paintings from the photographs that I had from the trip. This one reminds me of a quiet relaxing day walking on the beach with my late husband Brad. This painting is available as a fine art print at my Imagekind Gallery

Fall in Aitkin
The Switzerland Trail
One of my Mother's favorite things to do on a Sunday afternoon was to go for a ride on the "Switzerland Trail". It is dirt road that winds around a beautiful area in Aitkin County in Minnesota. Fall in Aitkin is a painting of my memories of those special trips. This painting is available at my Zazzle Store by clicking on the link below.

Rivers and Lakes
Why I like rivers and lakes.
As a little girl growing up in a small town in northern Minnesota, I was lucky enough to live next to the Ripple River. I had a quiet forest where I could play and explore. In the Summer, there were fallen trees that made walking bridges over the river. In the Winter, we could ice skate or slide down the steep hills on a sled and land in a mountain of snow at the bottom.I think that's why the landscapes that I paint are rivers and lakes. I also like trees. The shapes of the trees, the way the branches intertwine and catch the light attracts my eye. Many of my most pleasant memories involve being by water. Whether it was sitting around a fire and watching the waves on the river, or a family vacation at the cabin, it reminds of a time when everything was relaxed and happy.

- Thanks for the compliment. The Iris is my favorite flower to paint and photograph. After a long cold winter in Minnesota, it is a sign of Spring and a promise of warm Summer days to come.
I like your lenses about Minnesota. I am a fan.
